Meh. Using animations can be somewhat cheezy anyway.
For what it's worth, our company PowerPoint templates work well in
OpenOffice, and although some animations disappear, those are just
blinking arrows and stuff, which, as I said, can be cheezy.

What OOo version are you using? I guess that version 2.0 at least should
generate 'less' conversion problems.
And can you please state clearly what effects and animations were actually
not reflected in the .ppt version? I'm asking just for everybody's info.

Yes. Do not use Powerpoint to run the slideshow. Use

Use a laptop with OO installed or download OO for Windows and put it
on your USB drive. Install it in the PCs you will be using for the
slide show. Its free and you help
