LibreOffice was written in Java? I think a few of the functions require
Java, but I don't think the whole program was written in Java.

Yesterday, or maybe the day before, Ubuntu 10.04 did one of it's
updates. It included updating LibreOffice to version 4.0.1.2. I was
typing along yesterday, minding my own business, and LibreOffice
disappeared from the screen. I was able to reopen it and recover both
the .doc I was typing, and

Today I ran the update manager (a GUI). It indicated 44 updates. I
clicked on install. It proceeded without requesting the admin PW, which is
unusual. The Applying Changes dialog took a long time, and the details
