Yes I recalled that this happened several upgrades (years) back, I see the box I ticked in the Compiz control panel is still ticked so it is something else that someone has twiddled the bits on. This is the sort of thing I expect on Windows but it has crept (jumped) into Linux I fear... On Mon,

I will do more looking. I have already gone through the settings and so far no joy, in Compiz there are Snapping Windows which is disabled. Under Mate tweak > Window Behaviour > Do not auto-maximize new windows is ticked. I have looked to see what I may have missed and so far no joy... Did look,

Not sure what was done in one of the updates, but my Mate sessions now seem to want to go to full screen when I try to grasp the upper bar on a window to drag it elsewhere. I do not understand who gets these stupid ideas (I see that windows does that so figure they must be trying to emulate it)
