As far as I can tell, if you are trying to share a printer that is
connected to a Linux box with a windows machine, you may have to share
the printer using Samba , so that it is available as a shared printer to
your windows clients.

I do not know where that executable put the extracted files nor do I
have any answers to your other questions. I wish I did. I am sure I
could take care of this in a matter of minutes if I was at your house,
but that does not help you because obviously I am not there. Google

After downloading the printer driver from the link you provided, I still
can't get printing to work from my wife's xp computer.
The link you provided said that it was for a PostScript driver, but as
far as I know, I am not using the HP LaserJet 4 Plus as a PostScript
printer.

You said that the printer was on the LTP port of your linux server. It
does not have an IP. The linux server has an IP and is sharing the
printer. As your screenshots indicated, you pick the printer off of your
linux server (which does not have the XP printer driver) and then use a
downloaded x
or wait. maybe that gives you the ip of it and you have to put it
somewhere. I don't remember.

I think that XP has the printer driver for the HP LaserJet 4 (if not you
can download the driver) if you were to hit OK on that last dialog box.
That last dialog box indicates that the printer is found, but just does
not have the driver.
HPs Print drivers can be found on their website. B
On my old IBM Thinkpad running kubuntu Linux, I have an old HP LaserJet 4
Plus connected via a parallel port with "Share this printer" checked.
