16 bit color depth means that the scanner is using 16 bits for each color
when it digitizes an image. Each pixel would have 2^16 x 2^16 x 2^16
possible color options.
16 bits/color means 2^16 or 65,536 shades of each
the originals are squiggly. I don;t know why it is doing that to me
now It wasn't that way before! strange.
