More than likely you just need a pcie card.  They have antennas on them 
that are much more powerful than the tiny little antennas that are built 
into the USB dongles. I've got a dongle that won't pick on the access 
point at the other end of my house even though my laptop and a computer 
with a PCIe card pick them up fine.

I was speaking with my father about this and he said that I probably need
to update my drivers. Being on Linux means my drivers are updated
everytimeI update the computer I think. He then said that sometimes they
work and sometimes they don't and the same thing goes for the cards. So I
need to ask what cards have people had success with?

*Aaron Jones: Introduction To Cyber Reconnaissance*

*Description:* Introduction to Cyber Reconnaissance is a two-hour course 
focused on providing learners with a gentle introduction to the tools 
and techniques used to probe and locate targets for attack.

**Biography:* Aaron is an experienced Linux user with several years of 
teaching experience. He works in the industry as a software developer 
while also providing consultancy on cyber security related topics. His 
discussions are AZ Post certified for training credit for law 
enforcement and he prides himself on providing quality educational 
material that is relevant and topical. He has a Masters Degree in 
Intelligence Analysis with a focus in Cyber Security, is a life long 
learner, and prides himself on staying up to date with the ever changing 
field of cyber security.


*der.hans: SSH series: Introduction to SSH*

*Description:* SSH is the go to tool for sysadmins and developers to 
make secure, encrypted, interactive connections to remote machines. It's 
even secure across hostile networks, unless you accept keys without 
verification (DON'T DO THAT!!!).


The introduction to SSH will describe what SSH is and the basics of how 
it works. It will also cover verifying an SSH host key, making an SSH 
connection and running a remote command.


*Biography:*
der.hans is a technology and entrepreneurial veteran. Roles have 
included director of engineering, engineering manager, IS manager, 
system administrator, community college instructor, developer and DBA.


In his free time, der.hans endeavors to help build community through 
user group and conference leadership. He is chairman of the Phoenix 
Linux User Group (PLUG), BoF organizer for the Southern California Linux 
Expo (SCaLE) and founder of the Free Software Stammtisch.


He presents regularly at large community-led conferences (SCaLE, SeaGL, 
LFNW) and many local groups.



The meeting will start at 7pm at The Desert Breeze Substation.  People 
start arriving as early as 6pm, so if you would like to help setup 
and/or chat for a while, arrive a little early.

The Desert Breeze Substation is on Chandler Blvd and Desert Breeze Blvd,

wireless pci cards

Anyone out there have a wireless PCI card? I need two of them. The wireless
dongle doesn't appear to work on a desktop. I guess it is too big. I have
two of them and they both operate sporadically on my tower computers. I got
one with the pi I have and that works fine but when I tried using it on the
desktop... not so much.
