my understanding the programs I open on the NUC (from the desktop)

I believe vnc is named vino on mint. You use it to connect to the desktop
like teamviewer. Then you can set things up on the nuc. You could also just
connect a keyboard mouse and monitor.
You want to set up your nuc to share the drive on the network. Then mount
the share on the other machine.
it better be cool at 2400 pounds! (whatever that is in $s)

Thanks for the tips Michael and Shaun! I'm not to concerned about
security I will only be using it between two machines which are
right next to each other to drag files betw. wait! I can't do that
with a vnc. Darn. Looks like I'm stuck with filezilla!

You need a vnc server, of which there are multiple. Try "apt search vnc".
Google for a decent one these days how to install it.
I never much like VNC, not much security to it.
As much as it pains me to admit, rdp with windows is a pretty robust
solution, and know there's xrdp, but needs to
I believe the package name is tigervnc-server. There's also tightvncserver
but I haven't used that one.

apparently it is not on MINT and it is not available in apt.
sudo apt-get install vnc

Team viewer runs on Linux too. Vnc is already installed on most Linux
distro's

Thanks for telling me about nomachine. that is what I was looking for!
it is like team viewer but made for linux and by that I assume more
secure than team viewer!
