When I first got into web application development I tried both. Plone was
more intimidating to me than Drupal for the following reasons:
1. It was not based on a standard simple AMP Stack. by AMP I mean Apache,
MySQL, PHP.
2. I found the web site difficult to find tutorials and help, and the
Not the developers per se, I just have noticed in my meeting of people who
like to code more of them like python over php. as far as how easy or
difficult to work with that's more of an even 50/50 split of all the
developers i have met. much like most any other IT professional...

Some other thoughts about plone from other plone developers...(Again, I
know nothing about Drupal)

No package 'fontconfig' found
root@bt:~# locate fontconfig
/etc/defoma/fontconfig.subst-rule
/etc/java-6-openjdk/fontconfig.bfc
/etc/java-6-openjdk/fontconfig.properties
/opt/AutoScan/usr/lib/libfontconfig.so
/opt/AutoScan/usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1
/opt/AutoScan/usr/lib/libfontconfig.so.1.2.0

package in the repository knows where all packages are installed on
I run ubuntu and I did 'apt-get install fontconfig' and then
'...fonttabtab' but to no avail. Then I did the locate and found a
whole mess of fontconfigs on my system so it isn't a matter of installing
the program but rather of getting poppler to see that it is installed.
Could I possibly put a

Oh. I understand now. The error maessage says, 'Consider adjusting the
PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.' It thinks I installed it in a
nonstandard prefix so I need to adjust it. But I need to know what to
change it to.
My best guess would be
