So it's clear that VSNL having crapest of crap network maintainers till now, IIRC year back or so, same report from a VSNL DSL user popped on rp-pppoe list and of course solution that was suggested to him was to either push his ISP to fix this way of stupid setup or either keep using ACNAME

the router configured the same way u have configured ur PC. Even on u r PC u cannot configure the ACNAME thing through the regular network options. I don't know what you mean by that. There is ACNAME field in network configuration tool (system-config-network in my case) or in the network

I use fedora 6 and I have tried mondo for data backup. It worked fine with me. Eventhough the data was substantially more than the capacity of one DVD it was not a problem since mondo divided the backup on mulitiple disks and propted to insert the second blank DVD when the first one was fully
