There is also option such as autoreconnect if it fails while transferring but *wget -c* will be the best way to do things if you are not hung up about using GUI based FTP client. -- __ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: (plug-mail@plug.org.in) List Information: http://plug.org.in/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.

Hi No course/certificate, no matter from which premier (there are so many of these currently) institute that can guarantee a job at your most preferred company. Get this firmly installed in your thinking. This is the first step. A corollary to this: it is your competency alone that will make things happen. You are in a professional field. Also, learn to learn new things Secondly identify the area where you should seek competency, The answer is (typically) within you. There are things that are hot now, and things that are not-so-hot now. There are things that will remain somewhat lukewarm all the time. You have to find where you want to remain. There are people who are happy in X company because they can go abroad every three months for a week and there are people who have never travelled abroad and work on things other do not understand at all and are still very satisfied. Practically, it will a good idea to a. Start contributing (Competency !!) to existing projects in FOSS (kernel ??). Read relevant mails from the archives of this list on making contributions. There is sufficient wisdom in the archives. b. Go for an advanced degree in CS. This helps set the agenda and gives you time to think, scholarship to survive, access to experts to get another perspective. it it easy to understand that there is a great anxiety to reach the nearest shore, at this stage of your life and career. As you see little chance of getting a job through the regular channel of your college placement cell, here are a few random suggestions: 1. Work hard for the exams (or whatever remains of it) If you have given up on reaching the next level of performance in percentage terms, take a hike (literally. It is helpful in clearing your mind. When you are back think about the field where you want to work in) 2. Work on your communication skills (don't sir people too much etc.) 3. Don't use the word package (break free from such attachments). At least pretend to (not using this word is a good way of pretending ;-) ) HTH -- __ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: (plug-mail@plug.org.in) List Information: http://plug.org.in/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.

Re: [PLUG] FTP Client
Also if it is a Windows based FTP server make sure you play with Passive FTP settings... I know some of them don't work well when setting is kept to passive FTP. Write down all the setting in CuteFTP (windows) and make similar setting in gFTP, FileZilla or whatever and it will work. Your SITE command will be refused by the Windows FTP server, so it can also create problems if one of your settings it to sync the server time stamp. Definitely there are plenty of setting to work on . -- __ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List: (plug-mail@plug.org.in) List Information: http://plug.org.in/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/plug-mail Send 'help' to [EMAIL PROTECTED] for mailing instructions.
