Hello,
I want to add some loadable kernel modules in Ubuntu 10.04, so wanted to
install a new kernel by compiling the new 2.6.35 version.
I have followed the following steps:

createrepo: Directory /media/Fedora13 must be writeable.
This states the problem clearly. DVD is a read only file system and
createrepo requires to write database fil and metadata file to the
location where you are creating the repo, hence the issue.

Thanks for the reply.
I performed the step as you have described.
createrepo has generated necessary xml files.
I also created iso.repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d
content of iso.repo
[iso]
baseurl=file:///path/to/mounted/iso
enabled=1
still yum is not installing packages from this source.

The new kernel shows up in the boot menu, but the problem is that I am not
able to login by graphical mode. There is a whole list of error messages
that appear on the screen, and one of them being Kernel Panic.
What does the kernel panic message say?
