"Open Source" is a software development model. There are many models, open source is one of them. Open source software development model is primarily adopted for "projects". These are, and continue to have, an appropriately licensed publicly available (mostly) repository, issue/defect reporting and download methods. A business strategy is built around a product (or, a service formulation of the product). The article often conflates and uses project/product interchangeably to arrive at a forced hypothesis. What has happened in the last 2 decades is that a significant number of artifacts which we use as part of day-to-day computing are built around the open source software development model. That is the change. A business can be built around anything that has a market and a legal entity can apply a dynamic pricing (or, micro-economics) to. _______________________________________________ plug-mail mailing list plug-mail@plug.org.in http://list.plug.org.in/listinfo/plug-mail
