So either you need smtp server port listening enabled on host abc.com or there is a firewall rule blocking it, I guess. [PLUG] Sendmail is unable to send emails to users in same domain
Hello, I am trying to configure sendmail on gitlab 13.x CE [on-prem server/CentOS 7] to send emails to the LDAP based gitlab users. [on-prem/traditional set-up] Sendmail is able to send email to any domains except its own domain. In logs, I am getting a message saying that the connection is refused by domain abc.com & the private IP of Windows based DNS server. The mailing solution for abc.com is taken from Google. We checked for any email in the queue from git...@gitlab.abc.com but no email in blacklist or spam section. mail sender is git...@gitlab.abc.com Reply to is nore...@gitlab.abc.com I tried to add abc.com domain in access file as = Connect:abc.com RELAY Tried with more R but same issue. Not helping. Any ideas how to fix the issue. I did a lot of Google. Those solutions did not work. Re: [PLUG] sendmail
Hi, Would you explain why you picked sendmail? And why not ? Why the pejorative attitude towards sendmail ? Sendmail is actually easy to understand for a lot of applications. I'll illustrate with example applications on which I have actually made money when I was younger. These applications were easier to do with sendmail, and I don't think things have changed much since. a. A company wishes to send email via multiple dial-up connections, of which only one is active at a time. To save on telephone expenses, the dial-out is done once an hour. So the outgoing mail has to be frozen into two separate queues only one of which is to be flushed at a time. b. A company wishes to monitor outgoing mail. So the queue has to be frozen and flushed on an approval basis. And a web interface has to be provided to show the queue contents. No offence meant, of course :) Regards, -- Saint Pai ___ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List

On the other hand if they want to use an SMTP transport as part of something else, then any MTA supplied with the standard distributions will be adequate. But its difficult to be more specific unless we know more about what your students want to do. Regards, -- Saint Pai ___ Pune GNU/Linux Users Group Mailing List

[PLUG] Sendmail as client Problems
Hi Friends, I have configured sendmail with fetchmail. mails are delivered to desktop from isp's pop3 server. But isp's SMTP server is not accepting authintcation from sendmail. I am using smart_host with authinfo Even tried default-auth-info after removing authinfo. but does not help. Intrestingly mail_hub option works, but then all (even local) mails get routed to isp's SMTP server so nobody can receive mails locally. Please help I even included log in earlier mail. That mail is not present in mailing list. May be I exceded size. Thanks in advance Rahul __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: [PLUG] Sendmail Problems
Right now our addressing scheme is [EMAIL PROTECTED] for internal mail communication. And [EMAIL PROTECTED] for external communication. Is it possible that I maintain single address for both internal as well as external communication? ... But I would like to keep single email Id. And if there is local mail it should be distributed locally. If it is external mail it should distributed globally. How will a mailserver know whether a mail is to be distributed locally or globally ? BTW, what do you mean by local distribution ? Is it through a nfs mounted /var/spool/mail ? POP3 ? IMAP ? You said you have an external mailserver. Why can't everybody access their mails through that mailserver ? So it will not matter whether they are touring or in office.
