Should already do this for listen again streams. Press and hold fwd or rew while a stream is playing and it will count up an offset and then jump to it when you release fwd or rew. [Fwd and Rwd pressed and released rapidly move you onto the next track in the playlist or back to current track. S

The fact that the time interval is fixed regardless of what you do makes me think it is TCP related (i.e. TCP protocol acks between mplayer and BBC server) especially since you have changed nothing else. Have you installed/initiiated anything else on the linkstation that could cause swapping or
