Excellent thank you. Just updated and the skip buttons work although now
it won't play anything.. just saying connecting.. I shall restart my pi
and see if that fixes it

Have you set the log for shairtunes2 to debug? Your Perl version is
fine, so this is surprising - there has to be something in the
server.log when you enable debugging log (LMS settings, advanced,
logging)
