Make sure youre running the latest m2p with all its updates. Ive
received an identical report only a few days ago, and the user was able
to resolve the problem by updating his system.

There are also "Spotty Helper Application" plugins.
I presume that you have to pick the correct one of those to install and
then configure Spotty to use the right one if it does not pick it
itself.

Spotty didn't report this in LMS, but I compared it to the current git
version (arm-linux)
Since this works "from time to time", it shouldn't be an architecture
issue.

Probably something for the max2play team to resolve but my guess is that
the wrong spotty binary is being determined, perhaps they have an
unusual Linux architecture setup.
I suspect it could be made to work by renaming executables ... however,

Hello all,
I have installed LMS 8.1.1 version on an old Dell 1525 for my vacation
house.
When installing Spotty, I get the same message as Malcom, but it says
"64bit":
There has been a problem running the Spotty helper application. Please
make sure you have the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
Problem solved:
Visual C runtime was installed in the last couple of days - when Spotty
reported that it was required and I used the link in the Spotty settings
page which contained the error message about requiring C++.
Uninstalling and reinstalling made no difference but downloading the

Did you install the MS Visual C 2015 runtime recently? Try re-installing it.
