Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunes Update on SB Controller/SqueezePlay

2010-01-05 Thread Craig, James
The Controller menu mysteriously stopped working on SC 7.4,
I have been working intermittently on fixing it but I don't have a finished
version yet.
Using TrackStat to rate tracks should work as Erlend suggests.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Conductor Tag and Squeezebox Server

2010-01-05 Thread NPendrigh

I have started ripping some of my wife's classical music using
DBPowerAmp Reference 13.3 into WMA 9.2 Lossless and the Conductor tag is
populated there, and in Windows Explorer and in MP3tag and in
MediaMonkey and I cannot search using Conductor in Squeezebox Server
7.4.1

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Why do you only need the track_id? I mean: whatever you do, you will
always have to extract the data from the response.
Then you can use the trackstat rating command to rate the song, what is
the issue there?
You can add the tags you need to the query, read up on the status query
here:

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] CLI-commands

2010-01-05 Thread erland

Are you talking about the Squeezebox Radio or some other radio device ?

If you are talking about the Squeezebox Radio it seems like this should
be implemented as either a perl plugin in Squeezebox Server or a lua
applet in Squeezebox Radio.

In the perl case you can use Slim::Player::Playlist::song($client);
to get currently playing track.

In the lua applet case I'd suggest that you have a look at the
NowPlayingApplet in the Squeezeplay source code:
http://svn.slimdevices.com/repos/jive/7.4/trunk/squeezeplay/src/squeezeplay/share/applets/NowPlaying/NowPlayingApplet.lua

Or is the issue that you want to avoid perl and lua coding and do this
in some other language ?

If you are going to do it some other way maybe you can use the web
interface, TrackStat provides links like this which sets the rating on
the currently playing track:

Code:

http://localhost:9000/plugins/TrackStat/index.htm?player=00%3A01%3A02%3A03%3A04%3A05trackstatcmd=ratingtrackstatrating=5

It's not the best way to do it but it should be very simple as you
don't have to retrieve the currently playing track.

Thank you for your hints.
I'm not a coder but i wanted to change the preset buttons 1-5 of my
Squeezebox Radio to do a rating (1-5) for the currently played song. For
this i tried the Kidplay-Plugin to reconfig the buttons. But when i want
to use Trackstat it needs a Track_id!

Perhaps you can tell me whats easier to handle in this case: perl or
lua -i would have to learn both of them.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Inguz and 7.4

2010-01-05 Thread Merlinwerks

I've got Inguz running on 7.4.2 with the Skarpa changes (Thanks!) to
plugin.pm. I also needed to use IE for web control because the plugin
did not render correctly in FF. Additionally, I had to install
Squeezeplay to get access to the Settings/Test Tone menu because I am
running a solo SBR (setup with net-udap) and no controller.

At this point I have my sweeps recorded and I am ready to process them
and I need a little guidance. First, what version of DRC do most of you
use for this? The latest (3.1.0) doesn't seem to have all of the files
in the sample folder, flat.txt, ecm8000.txt, bk-3-spline.txt, but they
do appear in the source folder. Version 2.6.2 seems to have all the
files in the sample folder, although I don't think it makes any
difference what folder you pull them from since they are just text
files, but I thought I would check. Also I found references in an old
thread about using a specific normal.drc, located in post #21 'here'
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29489page=3), at this
point I'm unsure if this will be compatible with the latest versions of
DRC.

This what I believe is the minimum required files in a folder for
conversion:

ImpulsePrep.exe
drc.exe
normal.drc(modified to reflect the chosen target and mic files)
flat.txt (or whatever target you choose)
ecm8000.txt (or a cal file for whatever mic used)
left.wav
right.wav

Am I on the right track here?

Thanks!

It depends, I would personally recommend perl because there are more
people here that can help you with perl issues compared to lua issues.

Start with an existing plugin and modify it to your needs, for example
the Removed Played Songs plugin which is fairly small:
http://www.koldware.com/SlimStuff/RemovePlayedSongs-2.3.1.zip

If you do it in perl you will need to:
1. Implement a new JSON command (through addDispatch) which doesn't
require track_id
2. When the command is called with a rating, you look up the currently
playing song on the player and call the TrackStat setrating command with
the track_id.

After this, you can use KidsPlay to redefine the preset buttons so they
issue your command which doesn't need the track_id.

If you haven't done any kind of programming before it could be hard,
but give it a try if you feel that you have the time and want to learn.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Permission denied in Custom Browse

2010-01-05 Thread losinj

Hi,

I've upgraded my Qnap TS109/II NAS to SSOTS 4.2 SBS 7.4.1, and now I
can't get Custom Browse working again fully.

After doing the upgrade and (re)installing the latest Custom Browse and
Custom Scan plugins, the Custom Browse menus I created previously (using
an earlier version of the plugin, I would think) are still available,
but there are no albums or tracks listed under them.

Also, in the SBS web interface under Plugins Custom Browse Settings
Manage menus, if I select any custom menu as if I were going to edit
it, and click 'Next' without making any changes, I get an error:

Error saving /Qmultimedia/genrecomposerworkstracks.cb.values.xml:
Permission denied

I'm guessing for some reason there is a difference in permission
settings between the old and new SSOTS/SC versions, but I've no idea how
to solve this.

The server log contains a number of the reports below in the Custom
Scan progress, but I don't know if this is related or could be a
separate problem:

Slim::Menu::Base::addItem (173) SystemInfo menu item library failed:
Can't call method get_column on an undefined value at
/share/HDA_DATA/.qpkg/SSOTS/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Slim/Schema.pm

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat and iTunes Statistics Import

2010-01-05 Thread Christophenonstop

Hi Erland, thanks for support.

OK- back to TrackStat 2.1, I have enabled debug logging and here is the
outcome for the import of one single problematic track :

Code:

  [10-01-05 21:28:00.6149] Plugins::TrackStat::iTunes::Import::handleEndElement
(590) starting track parsing

  [10-01-05 21:28:00.6191]
Plugins::TrackStat::iTunes::Import::replace_problematic_url_chars (698)
original url was file:///media/Media/MUSIC-AUDIO/Kana/Entre Fr%E8res/09 -
L%27h%E9ritage.mp3
  [10-01-05 21:28:00.6193]
Plugins::TrackStat::iTunes::Import::normalize_location (690) normalized
file://localhost/M:/MUSIC-AUDIO/Kana/Entre Fr%E8res/09 - L%27h%E9ritage.mp3 to
file:///media/Media/MUSIC-AUDIO/Kana/Entre Fr%E8res/09 - L%27h%E9ritage.mp3

  [10-01-05 21:28:00.6198] Plugins::TrackStat::iTunes::Import::handleTrack
(424) file not found: /media/Media/MUSIC-AUDIO/Kana/Entre Frères/09 -
L'héritage.mp3

  [10-01-05 21:28:00.6201] Plugins::TrackStat::iTunes::Import::handleEndElement
(628) Finished scanning iTunes XML

I can tell from the log that the very same track is stored in the
database under a different url

Code:

  [10-01-05 21:29:58.3048] Plugins::TrackStat::Storage::findTrack (503)
findTrack(): URL:
file:///media/Media/MUSIC-AUDIO/Kana/Entre%20Fr%C3%A8res/09%20-%20L%27h%C3%A9ritage.mp3

So you were right, character encoding seems different. One lame option
is seek and replace text strings within the xml, but I'd rather put up a
permanent fix for later batches. Do you have a clue ?

---
Also, although I wish to, I could not set the Database Query plugin up,
simply because I don't understand how to. I have set the following
directories both owned by user (not root) with -drwxr-xr-x- rights :
- Data queries directory =
/home/christophe/Backups/Configs/Squeezebox_Server/Database_Query/Queries
- Data queries templates directory =
/home/christophe/Backups/Configs/Squeezebox_Server/Database_Query/Queries_Templates
But then I don't know what to do.

Do other CLI commands use the track ID? I've been considering a change
to the KidsPlay command parser to accommodate variable substitution,
e.g. set the macro as

Code:

Do you have the music files on the Linux box and publish them on the

I think you can set the character encoding on the samba share but it
will probably result in that your current iTunes library will point to
non existing files.

It would probably be possible to add a character encoding option in
TrackStat and let the user select which conversion he wants.
Alternatively it might be possible to change TrackStat so it tries
multiple encoding but that might affect the performance of the import.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] scpowertool --hibernate not working

2010-01-05 Thread Phil Meyer
This is the kind of thing that will leave tufts of your hair lying in
small drifts on the floor.

It was/is driving me nuts!

I had tried all sorts of things; I'd unplugged network cable, etc.

However, it turned out to be something to do with a BIOS setting to wake up
computer via keyboard. This was set to Any Key - this appears to cause it to
immediately wake up without pressing anything. I wondered if I had a sticky
key, but can't see anything obviously wrong with it. I tried changing the BIOS
setting to 98 keyboard, but that immediately wakes too (not sure what that
option really means).

It's a USB Keyboard, but also connected with standard PS2 cable. It only seems
to wake up if the standard PS2 cable is connected - in USB-only mode, there's
no wakeup. I changed it to require hotkey Ctrl+F1, and that works.

Curiously, in suspend mode, any key press seems to wake server, even with
USB-only connection, and with Wake on Keypress set to Hotkey Ctrl+F1.

Similarly, Wake on Mouse is set to Click, but this doesn't wake up server
from S3(STR) Hibernation, but it does in S1 mode.

I think it's something to do with USB not performing wake from power off mode
(USB Hub device has an unticked greyed out Allow this device to bring the
computer out of standby). I've tried all sorts of BIOS setting changes, even
a registry patch, but can't get USB mouse or USB-only keyboard to wake from S3.

I thought there was more of a difference in power-saving between S1 and S3
modes, but having googled the topic a bit the last few days, hibernation only
seems to save 1-2W (by allowing RAM refresh to power off).

know more about than me, but is there anything I should be looking for
on that unit that would help you?

Thanks.

A compliment *and* a donation? Hey, you get a new release. :-)

Please try version 2.4.2 or newer from my test repository,
http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata-test.xml (you'll need to
manually add it to the list of repositories). There's a new section on
the macro settings page that explains the new support for variables.
Here's the list of what it now offers:

Code:

PLAYER_NAME
Name of the player where the button was pressed
  PLAYER_ID
ID (MAC address) of the player where the button was pressed
  CURRENT_TRACK_ALBUM
Album for the current track for the current track on the player where the
button was pressed
  CURRENT_TRACK_ARTIST
Artist for the current track on the player where the button was pressed
  CURRENT_TRACK_TITLE
Song title for the current track on the player where the button was pressed
  CURRENT_TRACK_ID
Database ID number for the current track on the player where the button was
pressed

If this works OK for you, I'll probably call it version 2.5.0 and
publish it to my main repository. Please let me know.

Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] TrackStat CLI commands?

If I want to set the rating (0..5) for the currently played track, do I

 this possible? Thanks much!

If you're using KidsPlay, definitely see the thread CLI-commands. If
not, perhaps you should be. :-) Seriously, though, KidsPlay might help
with this. It has an (undocumented) CLI that is designed to let a CLI
application invoke a KidsPlay macro, so you could define a KP macro like
JVC button 1 as trackstat setrating {CURRENT_TRACK_ID} 1, and have
your CLI client tell KidsPlay to execute the JVC button 1 macro for a
given player. KidsPlay would look up the track ID and call the trackstat
CLI command. That's nowhere near as clean as tweaking TrackStat, but let
me know if that sounds like something you'd need or want, so I can
verify that KidsPlay does behave as I described. This is a feature I
added to facilitate better support for Radio and Touch, but haven't
started using yet.

Yes, the Duet Controller's behavior is what I'm interested in.
The server version would also be of interest.

If you have a standard Ubuntu installation, the directory have to be
owned by the user squeezeboxserver.

To change the ownership you can run:
chown squeezeboxserver
/home/christophe/Backups/Configs/Squeezebox_Server/Database_Query/Queries

If you don't use samba to share you music files between the Windows and
Linux box how do both Windows and Linux get access to them ?

Do you use a shared folder in Virtualbox to accomplish it ?

Ubuntu typically use UTF8 encoded filenames while at least my Swedish
Windows installation use ISO8859-1
