Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl
dip;506102 Wrote: I just upgraded Squeezeboxserver from 7.4.2 to 7.5. I have used SrvPowerCtrl only to monitor idle players and to suspend the server after 45 minutes. With 7.5 SrvPowerCtrl does no longer work, i.e. the server is no longer suspended. I checked the SrvPowerCtrl menu and recognized that the entry Clear Block is shown (which usually means that a block is set to prevent suspend). I then tried to clear the block. After clicking on Clear Block message appears Clearing block and after a while Block cleared, but in fact the block is NOT cleared since after again entering the SrvPowerCtrl menu it is still shown Clear Block and the server does not suspend after idle time. I then deinstalled SrvPowerCtrl and installed the latest beta version (v20100101.164543), restarted the server but nothing changed. I am running SBS on Ubuntu 9.04. Is this a known incompatibility with SBS 7.5? OK, I spent a lot of time cleaning up the blocking code. But this bug seems to have been intermittent. I.E. I don't really know if I've fixed it or not. But give the new beta code a try and see if it solves the problem. [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP - Analysis vs. Validation
Hi all, I'm getting a little confused... I've followed the various wiki pages, but I'm still not clear on what the difference is between the Validation function, provided by the web interface to the MusicIP server, and Analysis, as carried out by the MusicIP application or through GenPUID. Can anyone give me a clear explanation of the difference? I've been using MIP headless for a few years now. I just recently completely rebuilt by music server. Unfortunately, I missed some vital files to backup, which has meant I've needed to install MusicIP from scratch. The first time I had MIP installed, I scanned my music library using the MIP application, but when I subsequently added new music, I did this through the MIP server web interface - using Add Music, then clicking the Validate button. This would take a few minutes, then when I refreshed the music library on SlimServer/SqueezeBoxServer, these songs would appear, and would be MIP mixable. So I've assumed all this time, that Validate served the same purpose as Analyse. Is that wrong? Is the fact that these songs appeared is MIP mixable not accurate? Thanks Chris. -- chris.mason chris.mason's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3323 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74055 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Two questions/requests: 1) really like to browse backwards as well (i.e. from A to Z rather than having to go form A to Z). Is this not possible? 2) Is there anyhting I can do to make the flow a bit smoother. I have about 2k albums all with 300x300 pixel covers. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPlayer stopped working - hangs on Waiting to sync
There are 2 SB3s on the setup, one of which is often off. Quite often I will get the waiting to sync message, but quite often it doesn't work even if the SB3 / SS are not sync'd and I just try to play the iPLayer on SS. Sometimes I can see it buffering, maybe get a split second of sound, and then it will stop. All a bit unpredictable. Odd since everything else works. E.g. right now I have them unsync'd, SS will play other radio stations quite happily, but will play nothing on iPlayer. If I try to play iPLayer the sound just goes dead (with the VU meters where they left off from playing the previous radio station). It says BBC Radio 4 in the Now Playing screen but nothing is happening. If I go back to play a normal radio station again then everything is fine, sync'd or unsync'd. -- rbl rbl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4517 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73488 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP - Analysis vs. Validation
My understanding is that analysis and validation are two parts of the same process, and are performed whether you use the server or the headless web interface. First of all, MusicIP does an analysis of the track, then it check to see if the fingerprint created during the analysis process is already in the MIP database (accessed over the internet). If there is, it applies the database info to the track. If not, it generates a more detailed fingerprint (that's when you see the validating bit if you are using the application interface and that's what takes the most time). From the MIP Help pages (thanks to the WayBack Machine): Musicip Help Wrote: What does it mean when MusicIP Mixer is validating my digital music collection? How long does it usually take? Validation checks to see if our server already has info on that particular song. If the song has been analyzed before, it can be validated. If the song has never been analyzed, then analysis is sent to the server. Validation speed depends on your processor speed and the overlap between your personal music library and our master database. If the song is a part of our master database, it will only need to be fingerprinted, which should take approximately 2-3 seconds per song. If the song is not a part of our master database, it will need to be fully analyzed, which is more like 80% of the song's length. How long should the analysis take? All answers depend on available CPU and memory, but in general, fingerprinting will take between 5 and 10 seconds per song, and analysis will take approximately 80% of the song's playing time. Note: If the central server already has an analysis stored for your songs, you only have to wait for the fingerprinting. Similarly, any analysis performed by your machine will be uploaded to the central server for others to use. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
I've gone ahead and posted 5.8.12 to www.gregbrown.net. What's new: If you didn't notice, weather.com changed their website substantially. Of course this threw off the parsing. This version is my *initial* parsing update. More updates to come. Notable things missing in this version are the long weather forecasts and the barometer trend direction indication. If you check out a local listing on weather.com for a 48 contiguous state you'll notice they now separate data a bit differently with one section for next 6 hours containing one TruPoint value and another section for the next 24 hours containing two values. Sort of like the past, I'm showing all three values via the up/down remote scroll buttons. If your weather identifier isn't for the 48 contiguous states the next 6 hour section has 3 reads for each of the next two hours. In this case I show the middle reading and the estimated temp instead of the hi/low value. Personally I'm not a fan of the new page content, but I'll work with what they give us. If you have any suggestions on how I should display the new content, please let me know. --- ** Please support the plugin by starting all your Amazon.com shopping via clicking through the Amazon.com links on www.gregbrown.net or by making a PayPal donation. *** I now have a SuperDateTime repository available to make downloading/updating easy. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Squeezeplay or Softsqueeze?
As a new user of a Squeezebox Boom (portable) and classic (hooked to HT setup) I am looking for a way to pipe music from my NAS running Squeezebox Server to a basement PC. I've tried both SoftSqueeze 3.8 and the current nightly version of SqueezePlay. I do not need to control anything from this PC, just want to play my MP3s and occasionally listen to internet radio. So far I found SqueezePlay to be so buggy as to be unusable (locks up frequently, most internet radio streams either unsupported format or play at wrong speed). SoftSqueeze also fails to play many internet streams, but otherwise seems to work OK for my uses. What I'd like to know is if there is a benefit to moving to the beta 3.9 version of SoftSqueeze, and/or is there something i can fix with SqueezePlay that will make it better for what I want to do? Use Softsqueeze 3.9b1 - it is only beta because there are a few more minor bugs (that are also in 3.8) that I hoped to fix but haven't had time. Softsqueeze and Squeezeplay cannot play WMA natively (only MP3 and Flac) and so you will often get unsupported format. If you are using a non Windows based SBS (wehic is typical for a NAS) then you need to install WMA support although this is not possible on all NAS. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl
With this latest beta, I've made some changes to the block-file mechanism. Block-files are a way for you to inhibit SrvrPowerCtrl actions without having to use the CLI. SrvrPowerCtrl always checks for the existence of the block-file before taking any action. With this latest beta, for windows 7 vista, the block-file location\filename has been changed to %PROGRAMDATA%\TEMP\spc-block For Windows XP, the block-file remains %WINDIR%\temp\spc-block For all other OSs, the block-file remains /var/lock/spc-block If you're using block-files to inhibit SrvrPowerCtrl, remember that on the non-windows OSs, you'll need to give the squeezecenter/squeeeboxserver user permissions to the block file in order for SrvrPowerCtrl to be able to remove the block-file, if directed to through the webUI or through the CLI. Also new in this latest beta: you can now create and delete block-files via the CLI: srvrpowerctrl setblock blockfile viacli Srvrpowerctrl clearblock blockfile viacli Also, the 'listblock' CLI action now accurately reflects the existence of block-files. Remember, on linux, /var/lock/spc-block gets cleared automatically by the OS on reboot. For all other OSs, including OSX, you'l need to clear the block-file yourself. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Does iPeng work wth wired squeezebox?
djtex;506721 Wrote: they are only easy when you know the answer. ;) Yep. If you use a WiFi router that router will typically reside on your local network so this should not be an issue. Configurations like a computer (as a server) with a hard-wired connection to the Squeezebox and a WiFi connection between the computer and the router will thus work, too. There is one case where you might need some manual configuration, and that is if your router uses a different subnet for the WiFi network and for the wired network (where your server is on), e.g. 192.168.0.x vs. 192.168.1.x. To play WMA on Softsqueeze you need WMA support to transcode - for DS209 this usually means using a special version of mplayer which is provided with SSODS ( http://oinkzwurgl.org/ssods ). I don't know if the DS209 has rhe processing power to transcode WMA streams. Softsqueeze effectively emulates an SB1 which means it must run connected to a local SBS - it can never connect to mysb.com. To use mysb.com services such as Pandora - you will need to enable proxied streaming in the SBS Settings for the Softsqueeze player. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Moose 0.72
Hi Dr. Lovegrove first of all, I'm a great fan of moose and use it every day! There is only one behavior which is really annoying: when I add one ore more albums to SBC, I start a rescan on SBC to integrate the new albums and tracks to the database. In moose I also rescan the MySQL db and the albums are being added to the moose db. They are also shown in moose's cover chooser, but when I right click one of the new albums all track numbers aren't shown in order of the track numbers. This happens with all SBC versions I tried. In the moment I run SBC 7.5 nightly versions. The problem can be only solved by deleting the SBC database and a complete new scan in SBC and moose. Since I have a very large db, this takes a long time. Is there a posibility to solve this? Thank you in advance and please keep refining moose since we urgently need this great app ;-) Stefan -- Webkemmi Webkemmi's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30352 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69653 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarC ube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7. x
The reason I ask is that it has felt like the Dynamic Playlist integration is pretty different from the other SugarCube usage so it might even be easier to maintain it if it was a separate plugin. It won't work if you use all the SugarCube features, as that would mean duplicating a lot of code. However, if you are just looking for a way to select which recipe or filter to use, a separate plugin might not be a bad idea. My main reason for using DynamicPlaylist is to wrap SugarCube such that it can be played as an alarm clock music source. I configure SugarCube to use a certain filter. It picks a random starting track, and then wanders off from that in the morning. I would like a way to configure the initial seed (I think once upon a time I could select and queue a single song in the evening, so it used that as the starting song, but I think it hasn't used that for a long time and uses a new arbitrary starting track when the alarm fires). I was playing with ideas like starting an alarm initially to play a single random song from a defined playlist of good wake-up songs, and then a second alarm fire a few seconds later to play SugarCube, using the current playing song as a seed. I think I'm making a bit of progress. Updating to 7.5/trunk tonight and using SugarCube 2.03, I'm not getting as many errors. I figured that there was an issue with the dynamic SQL that sugarcube was building up - it has in it a hard-coded database name when identifying tables, eg. slimserver.albums. My own MySQL instance has a different database name (as I have various versions running in parallel - various beta ones), so I just removed the database name. I can see that within getNextDynamicPlayListTracks, it is selecting a track to play, and returns a valid track: [23:34:46.4357] Plugins::SugarCube::Plugin::getNextDynamicPlayListTracks (1357) returning to Dynamic Playlist file:///M:/Music/Phil%27s%20Music/Rock/Badly%20Drawn%20Boy/About%20a%20Boy/16%20-%20Donna%20and%20Blitzen.mp3 However, nothing actually plays, so maybe the format that this is being returned in is wrong. ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spicefly SugarC ube Version 2.03 (Automatic MusicIP DJ) for 7. x
I think it would therefore be safe to assume that Dynamic Playlist functionality doesnt work ;) I've had a quick look through the code patched it up, so it seems to be working for me. I think my changes are limited to the getNextDynamicPlayListTracks method that Erland pointed me at. I've added some debug logging. I changed the line that searches for a random song so that when there's no seed track it only finds a mixable song from the database (via 'musicmagic_mixable'=1). I guess you don't want this, as your SugarCube plugin doesn't rely on the MusicIP plugin having retrieved mixable status? However, I think this means that it could end up selecting a track that is not mixable in MIP, and therefore would stop after one song (or does it then select another random song? Not sure how this works regarding the chosen filter/recipe settings, i.e. a totally random song may not be a song for the desired SugarCube settings (filter set to Rated 5* for example, and random song could be anything). I changed the logic so that it doesn't try to select a similar song for the random chosen song, as selecttrack only works based on the currently playing song, but the random song isn't playing yet. sub getNextDynamicPlayListTracks { my ($client,$dynamicplaylist,$limit,$offset,$parameters) = @_; my $song = undef; my $currentSongTrack = undef; my $track; $log-debug(getNextDynamicPlayListTracks); # If this isn't the first time if($offset) { # Base mix of last returned song for this player $song = $lastDynamicPlaylistTrack{$client}; } # If this is the first time or no suitable song has been selected yet if(!defined($song)) { # Base mix of currently playing song $currentSongTrack = Slim::Player::Playlist::song($client); if(defined($currentSongTrack) Slim::Music::Info::isFileURL($currentSongTrack-url)) { $song = $currentSongTrack-url; }else { $currentSongTrack = undef; } } # If no suitable start track was found, base start of mix of a random track if(!defined($song)) { $log-info(no current song, so find a random song); # Only search for local songs that we know are mixable $track = Slim::Schema-rs('Track')-search({'audio'=1,'remote'=0,'musicmagic_mixable'=1},{ 'order_by' = \'RAND()'})-first; $song = $track-url; $log-info(selected random song is $song); } else { my $mytitle = SaveMyCurrentTrack($client,$song); # Strip and Store played track Latin1 format my $mypageurl = buildMIPReq($client, $mytitle); # Routine to get MIP settings and build MIP request my $diditwork = SendtoMIPSync($client,$mypageurl); if ($diditwork eq 1) { $log-debug(SendtoMIPSync worked); $track = selecttrack($client, \...@unique); # Randomly select track $#unique = -1; # Finished with our Unique Tracks Array, wipe it for reuse } else { $log-debug(SendtoMIPSync didn't work); } } my @result = (); if($track) { $log-debug(returning to Dynamic Playlist $track); $lastDynamicPlaylistTrack{$client} = $track-url; # If we started on currently playing song we need to return that song first if(defined($currentSongTrack)) { push @result,$currentSongTrack, } # Add new song retreived from MusicIP push @result,$track; } else { $log-error(Couldn't find track for: $track); } return \...@result; } If you're interested, I can send you my modified Sugarcube 2.03 Plugin.pm file (or try to make a diff). ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Is it within the .par file? If so, how do I decompile it? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl
dip;506924 Wrote: Does LazySearch2 use the same block as SvrPowerCtrl? No, but yes. SrvrPowerCtrl is smart enough to know when a regular audio library scan is taking place and interprets that as a busy signal. But SrvrPowerCtrl doesn't know anything about LazySearch scans. Stewart was kind enough to include code in his plugin that calls the blocking mechanism in SrvrPowerCtrl. So, it's LazySearch that's telling SrvrPowerCtrl that 'Lazyfacation' is in process and please don't interrupt it. It does this by setting a SrvrPowerCtrl block and then clearing the block once the Lazification scan is complete. To me, it seems like the problem is most likely one of the following: Lazifacation is taking a really, really long time. You might ask Stewart if 5+ hours is beyond the realm of reason here. The Lazyifacation scan dies somewhere along the line and thus LazySearch never frees it's requested block because it never gets the message that the scan is complete. You might ask Stewart if there is a log entry you ought to look for that would indicate that the scan croaked. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

That's probably not necessary, especially if your old version wasn't zipped up in a .par file.
