Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DenonSerial plugin thread
Thanks for pointing out the wake module problem -- I had started working on Wake On LAN support, and probably ought to just rip it out since SBS/LMS generally doesn't have rights to forge low-level packets anyway. I'm disappointed that at 15:17:17 my code isn't detecting the wedged queue. And that's just crazy behavior from your amp IMO. My old 23xx series amp is perfectly happy to tell me its power, volume, and source input when it's in standby mode. Can DenonSerial turn the amp back on right after turning it off? I could understand not replying if you manually pushed the "hard" power button on the amp, but not when DenonSerial uses the control API to put the amp in soft "standby" mode! http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67182 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
It's not a bug, it's simply not supported. and it might as well never become supported, sorry (OK, I've said the same about Replay Gain and that's here, now, so take it with a grain of salt). The problem with Crossfade is that at least the way the Squeezeboxes do it it requires you to fiddle with the audio data (apply a volume level to the data itself by changing the very bits you play). iPeng, however, doesn't do that which means that on output devices supporting independent volume control you still get bit-perfect output. Even with Replay Gain enabled! But to add Crossfade the way iPeng handles volumes would add a huge amount of work, we'd have to duplicate the audio unit chain and would still lose the bit-perfectness. Oh... And then there is that other problem: there is really no specification anywhere that I found that would specify what exactly the Squeezebox Crossfade does so I would have to reverse engineer that or find it in the SqueezePlay code or it would end up with so ring different than in the SB. So to cut a long story short: there is currently no plan to support it, sorry. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and *New: Logitech UE Smart Radio* as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DenonSerial plugin thread
OK, I think I've discovered that my amp doesn't like to be questioned about it's status whilst it is off. Once it has been turned off the first query works. Subsequent queries are just ignored, which seems to be what is causing the issue. I'm going to try to work around it for now by setting the idle query time to , which I hope will fix it. I still suspect a network/firewall > issue - please check that this actually connects to the helper app. Hi again Triode. Much appreciate your help with this. Fair comment! I've done my best to confirm that the PaPing utility is indeed connecting to the Helper App... First off I tried on port 9006 (paping 192.168.0.102 -p 9006 -c 4) and got a 'no connection' response, so I then changed the port in the plug-in settings to 9006 and tried again and this time got a successful connection. I then tried (paping 192.168.0.102 -p 9005 -c 4) and got a no connection response - just to confirm that some other app wasn't active on the plug-in's default port. I then returned the plug-in back to its default on port 9005, and once more tried (paping 192.168.0.102 -p 9005 -c 4) and this time it connected once more. I'd say that's pretty certain that it is connecting to the Helper App. For each connection, the helper app log shows the following three lines: [21:19:18.012051] main:539 new connection [21:19:18.012195] main:591 req: (null) res: (null) par: (null) prot: (null) auth: (null) [21:19:18.012234] main:1600 bad request for socket or no track So I do seem to be able to connect but I'm not sure if the log is telling me very much apart fro mthe fact that the connection made isn't what the Helper App is expecting - which in this case makes sense as its just being 'pinged'. OK this is good - it shows you can connect to the helper app. So the question would be do you see any debug entries when a player tries to connect? If not is the player actually connected to the same network? I had foolishly left an old copy of a 'workscount' around, with a working version called something else. Only the working version showed in the browser list and I didn't spot the name difference. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] DenonSerial plugin thread
Good luck. I just pushed my latest code up to my testing repository (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata-test.xml) if you want to give it a try -- includes both the full-dB code for zones 2+ and my new code that attempts to detect & clear hung queues (gives the amp 10s to respond to the last sent command before obliterating its queue). Neither of those is really tested (my queue hasn't hung since I added that code). If the hung queue detection tries to do something, you'll see a log entry like "no response seen from amp in at least 10, clearing its items from queue" (yes, I forgot to add "seconds" to that message). Also 0.1.38 has code to deal with garbage characters that I'm now seeing, probably (hopefully) introduced by my Pi+USB serial adapter. http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Note: The best way to reach me is email or PM, as I don't spend time on the forums. *Free plugins:* AllQuiet Auto Dim/AutoDisplay BlankSaver ContextMenu DenonSerial FuzzyTime KidsPlay KitchenTimer PlayLog PowerCenter/BottleRocket SaverSwitcher SettingsManager SleepFade StatusFirst SyncOptions VolumeLock peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=67182 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)
Both BBCiPlayer (plugin) and BBCRadio (applet) were updated last week to fix an incompatibility seen with some recent flash streams from the BBC. I'm announcing here as well so people know to update if they did not see that thread. If you using a Squeezebox Touch or Radio to listen to BBC flash streams, even if you using the BBCiPlayer server plugin for this, you will need to also install the BBCRadio applet on the device itself. This is because it includes a patch to the firmware code. If you had problems listening to live streams, specifically local radio ones then please try the updates and see if you still see a problem.
