Per my earlier comment, I'm not sure what you are using to control LMS, but if pausing is what you want, this "control" application does not send a "pause" request but a "stop". And because Bose are so broken, they respond to "stop" by pausing. There is not much I can do for that. I'm trying out LMS on a RPi with PCP but am stuck with CastBridge, which worked really well on my LMS on Windows. It gives the option of two excecutables - squeeze2cast-armv6hf or squeeze2cast-armv6hf-static - in the User Guide it says: "ItÂ’s convenient on some NAS platform that often are not full Linux systems, but the drawback is that libraries updates to your system will be not be used.". But being new to PCP, I'm still rather stuck on which to use. I guess it's not a full Linux system? Also a minor nit, but all the images are broken in the User Guide. At the moment the only buffering of the RP FLAC stream on my system occurs at between approximately 15:00 and 16:00 UK time. I revert to the 320k stream which is not affected and then nip back to FLAC at about 17:00 when everything is back to normal. Running a speed test during that time shows my normal download rate of 70 Mbps.
