Further confirmation: if I plug in a DAC that comes with an ASIO driver,
then that ASIO option appears in SLX. Tested with Pro-Ject and NuPrime
DACs, playing music ranging from 16/44.1 to 24/192, but I do not
normally use those DACs with my office PC.

The problem with ASIO4ALL may be that SLX does not see hardware
specifically associated with it. I was using it to play music from SLX
to my Schiit DAC with no problem before, but now I only see that DAC
listed with Windows sound options including WASAPI which as we've
discussed doesn't play Hi-Res.

Anyone have an idea on how to get ASIO4ALL in the list again?

PiCorePlayer - Does not show Tabs of other Players on the Network when
using a separate Rpi for the Server.
This is when I access the LMS Server Rpi - If I access the other
Squeezelite Players on the Network, I can see all the Tabs of other
players just fine.

I had thought this was working at one time, but I have just upgraded to
7.0 (And 64 Bit on the LMS Server Rpi). Is this because I have
squeeze-lite disabled on the LMS Server Rpi?

If you do 'cd /opt' and the 'sudo chown tc:staff bootlocal.sh' (both
commands without the quotes) then bootlocal.sh will be editable by tc.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Easy ngrok-setup for MediaServer & LMS-lite Alexa skills

2021-04-17 Thread Bogg

Hi, Thanks for your swift reply.

I think it is a permissions issue. I don't recall changing the
permissions for /opt/bootlocal.sh, but I do recall having permissions
issues for the display control script, and maybe the sqlite control
script too. I started with a standard pcp installation, so I'm unsure
why I seem to get permission issues.

Unfortunately I'm too stupid to work them out myself, so if you could
help me with the actual code to copy and paste it would be most helpful.

Here's the likely problem from the script rerun -

Code:

--> Adding autostart entry to /opt/bootlocal.sh

sed: can't create temp file '/opt/bootlocal.shfdHyWV': Permission denied
sed: can't create temp file '/opt/bootlocal.shnvI1x3': Permission denied
sed: can't create temp file '/opt/bootlocal.shlgWw98': Permission denied
--> Creating ngrok.yml in /home/tc/.ngrok2/ for tunnel [SqDisplayLMSTunnel]

--> Backing up changes using pcp bu.

setup.sh should have added a single line to bootlocal.sh - maybe it did
but the final pcp bu step failed? Run setup.sh again and watch for any
error messages. When it completes, do a pcp bu yourself. Any error?
If that fails, the correct entry is

/bin/sh /home/tc/ngrok_startup.sh

But you should try to understand why the setup process failed. Did you
change permissions or ownership in the past?

Hi, I've installed this today on pcp v7.0.1 running on wifi, the same
pcp is running lms.
The first time the script runs everything works as expected. Alexa
discovers and can control devices, I can use the tunnel link and see my
lms from the internet.
Unfortunately it doesn't survive a reboot. The tunnel link says
Tunnel {MYTUNNEL}.eu.ngrok.io not found

This is my /opt/bootlocal.sh

Code:

  #!/bin/sh
  # put other system startup commands here

  echo "Starting SQLITE-control.sh from /opt/bootlocal.sh..." | tee -a
/var/log/pcp_b>
  /home/tc/SQLITE-control.sh find M6 &
  GREEN="$(echo -e '\033[1;32m')"

  echo
  echo "${GREEN}Running bootlocal.sh..."
  #pCPstart--
  /usr/local/etc/init.d/pcp_startup.sh 2>&1 | tee -a /var/log/pcp_boot.log
  #pCPstop--

  ### BH1750 start --
  # Enabling kernel module i2c-dev
  /sbin/modprobe i2c-dev
  # starting shell script to control display brightness
  /home/tc/lux/display-control.py

I expected something about ngrok in here, but I don't know what.

I installed a new Synology ds220+ with DMS 6. I tried to install LMS 8,
but the link to Sourceforge is no longer valid. So I installed LMS 7.7
from the synology archive, which works perfect. Anyway I prefer Version
8, which I had on my older Synology.

I would appreciate if you updated the links.

Link works fine for me - in that it displays a repository XML file.
To use it in LMS you need to add that URL to the list of 3rd-party URLs
at the bottom on the Settings/Plugins page

Hello,

When installing LMS 8.1.1 on my NAS Synology DS212+, the possibility to
install 3rd party plugins has disappeared in the Plugins Settings Menu.
I want to install Material Skin. How to do ? Which repository contains
this pluging ?
The repository
"https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CDrummond/lms-material/master/public.xml;
doesn't work. Message " Incorrect repertory Connect time out"

Thanks in advance

One more thing concerning the mouse wheel & volume control. Is there a
way to use it WITHOUT having the mouse cursor in the volume bar 'area' ?

Thanks for that suggestion Paul. I have done extensive testing with
Jivelite - it's great but Material Skin is more universal ;-) and
preferred...

The typical approach when using knobs to control things is to have it
control Jivelite/Squeezeplay - a topic for a different thread though.

You really ought to fix your third party plugins problem though. Is it
really missing or just compressed (not expanded)?

Not currently. You can use the keyboard for most things, but cannot
navigate the lists with the keyboard. Material is not really designed
for this use-case. Tried a quick hack to add keyboard navigation to the
browse list, this works - but vuetify's menus don't seem to react to
up/down. So, possible to make required changes, but a lot of work for a
use-case its really not meant for.

How about a Raspberry Pi instead of a NAS?
The NAS can still provide local music - but as files.
There are plenty of examples of people doing that here in the forum.

I am a great fan of your MATERIAL SKIN!
To have a solid UI and same appearance across all platforms is simply
awesome! Love It! Thanks to the developer and all supporters.
I have read through a lot of the pages but couldn't find any hints how
to implent this 'usability'.
For building a custom squeezelite 'machine' I prefer using hardware
buttons and rotary encoder(s).
Is there a possibility to use a rotary encoder with built-in switch to
use solely for navigating the menu UP/DOWN/ENTER as a first step ( and
in the second step upgrade using a jog-dial to also have LEFT/RIGHT
funcionality ) and a second for controlling volume.
For me it would be ok to customize/add these features to KEYBOARD
SHORTCUTS options.
I am planning to hook up an Arduino ( RX with nrf24 ) acting as a HID
Device which receives commands from another Arduino ( remote control TX
with nrf24 ).
