Thanks! So I've changed the way crypto libs are attempted to be loaded
on MacOS and that might work. Can you try again the non-static version
this time (1.0.6). We might have a working M1 build!

Don't know what version it is, as it's still 'loading libcrypto in an
unsafe way'. But it's sha1 is ad5e26506e7231c42bc5e06dee18a10332e901f6.

Not all players work with your Spotty plug-in. Some of them display the

Thanks. I actually figured out where the "Power off"/"Pause" sequence is
being generated and it has nothing to do with the client app. It happens
when the "Power On Resume" option in the player Audio settings is set to
either of the "Pause at Power Off" selections. While one would logically
think this would result in a Pause followed by the Power Off, they
actually are generated in the reverse order, which is where the
confusion comes from. As this is a fairly common player setup option
with serious consequences for plugin users, a new plugin version,
v4.7.1, will be published in the next day or so to fix the problem,
along with providing menu support for the Marantz "M-DAX" audio restorer
modes.

Can you try the app here
https://github.com/philippe44/mdnssd/tree/master/bin, using the one that
matches your platform and launch the following

- "./climdnssd- _raop._tcp.local" and see what comes back. If your
player is in the list, then try
- "./climdnssd- -v _raop._tcp.local" and send me the result. If your
player was not int he list, then do
- "./climdnssd- -d _raop._tcp.local" and send me the result

To capture the result of stderr for file "log" (which is where I print
the output), add the following to the end of the command ">log 2>&1" (no
"" of course)

I don’t use Spotify Connect with iPeng but I do use it as a player on
iOS controlled by Material via the same device. The issue with iPeng
player is that it has to be running and playing before Material sees it.
I suspect that the same would be true for the Spotify app.

Now, this is pretty weird. It looks like something has happened in the
background because I do see now the Spotify Connect option on my Spotify
client. This is strange as I have not changed anything. The only thing
I've done differently is accidentally used Spotify on a Windows PC that
allowed me to initiate an Authorisation process, that I believe ended up
failing. Also, if I now go to LMS I'm able to use Spotify directly
there. There is for sure something I'm not being able to grasp...

There is now a weird behaviour whereby Spotify on my iPhone running
Spotify Connect, is not in full sync with the song that is being played.
Not sure if I will be able to properly describe what I've seen today.
Say my Spotify client on my iPhone says song X is being played using
Spotify Connect. Well, the song being played is actually X+1 but the
iPhone client displays one song right before. If I now go to LMS, what
is shown there is in sync with what is being played back; LMS is in
sync, whereas Spotify Connect is not. If I skip one song, then the
iPhone client is not catching up with what is being played back; it
always seems to be one song behind... weird stuff, I know.. does this
resonate if only a little?

thanks!

Thanks for clarifying. For me, the current behavior is perfect. You
might want to have a different color for "Squeezelite Player is not
enabled", 'cause I can understand people confusing the LMS icon with SLX
one. Using Squeezelite I had not noticed this.

The only potentially problematic library that I manually load is
openssl, that you can always add yourself. In the static version it's
linked with application, as well as everything else (including glibc)
and this is where it can be good and bad. Ideally, I should have 3
versions

- dynamic load of glibc & threads and systems *and* openssl
- same but openssl statically loaded
- all statically loaded

But that's way too many versions :)

I had these two entries in that list, on top of the "correct" installed

Certainly. I assume you want the ariplay bridge log, and you want it to
show what's happening when the latest beta is running. I will reinstall
the beta shortly. Should I set any additional debugging options?

Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual
players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio,
Boom or Classic.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Player compatible Spotty

2022-11-02 Thread jotap_66

Hi:

I am using the impressive Michael Hergers Spotty LMS plug-in. I
am using with an iPad with the player Squeezepad. SqueezePad only has
version for ipad?

Do you know if there is an iPhone compatible player ? Excellent iPeng
and the author Jörg (sorry I dont remember the last name) told me
he was not interested in doing his iPeng player compatible.

Other Macosx players as Squeezeplay are also compatible.

Best regards

jotap_66

By the way, I will never get tired of thanking Michael Herger for Spotty

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AirPlay, Chromecast and UPnP bridges update

2022-11-02 Thread RobbH

I think I have good news and bad news to report about the AirPlay
bridge. I don't know if either is very significant or relevant.

The good news concerns the interaction between the AirPlay and Group
Players plugins. My typical use case is rather extreme: five AirPlay
devices synchronized with three Squeezelite players. The Squeezelite
players are connected by powerline ethernet, so all my wifi players use
the AirPlay bridge. Synchronization almost always drifts a bit over
time. When players get out of sync, I usually stop playback for about 30
seconds. When I restart it, starting from the beginning of a track, the
players are usually back in sync. Occasionally, if that doesn't work,
it's necessary to restart the AirPlay bridge.

Since switching to the beta, sync has usually been consistent for hours.
The only exception I've found is when playing BBC Sounds (Radio 3). Sync
still drifts a bit in that case, but no worse than before.

The bad news is that the beta consistently fails to recognize one of my
AirPlay devices. The one in question is a piCorePlayer installation with
shairplay-sync running, but not Squeezelite. (Two of the other players
are Jam speakers; the other two are Pi zeros running shairplay-sync on
Raspberry Pi OS.) I should also mention that the problem player has a
hyphen in its name (Porch-pCP).

I have now reverted to v0.4.63.1, and the missing player has reappeared.
And unsurprisingly, sync is drifting more, again.

Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual
players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio,
Boom or Classic.

mctr wrote:

I discovered an additional problem in your debug log, @mctr. Apparently,
there is another difference between the Denon and Marantz telnet command
protocols that I wasn't aware of. What Denon calls the Audio Restorer
function (command "PSRSTR"), Marantz calls M-DAX (command "PSMDAX"). The
result is that the audio settings menus are not being fully populated
due to timeouts on the "PSRSTR" command. I have coded a fix but can't
fully test it without a Marantz AVR. If you don't mind, I would like you
to copy the attached two files to your plugin directory, replacing the
ones currently there. Neither file should be renamed. Copy them as is.
After copying them, please restart LMS, turn on debug logging for the
plugin and do some testing that involves powering on the player, going
into the audio settings menu and changing the Audio Restorer (M-DAX)
setting (and changing it back if you like) and then turning off the
player. I am assuming that you have set the AVR type in the plugin's
player setup menu to "Marantz AVR". If not, please do so before
testing.

Thanks for your help. I'm sure the other Marantz users thank you too. :)

Green: Squeezelite Player is not enabled
Blue: Squeezelite Player is enabled and "On"
Grey: Squeezelite Player is enabled and "Off"

If you are not connected to LMS server, then you get Grey with a caution
icon.

Some explanation... This is complicated. The Windows API does not
offer any method or API to programmatically control whether the tray
icon appears or is in the hidden area. The default is to locate the
tray icon in the hidden area, which is why it reverts there after an
update/re-install. It should remain/"stick" on reboots, though, so your
comment above caught my attention. I was able reproduce your
observation that the icon went back to the hidden area on computer
restart. I went into Settings|Personalize|TaskBar - Notification Area -
"Select which icons appear on the taskbar". In my case I noticed that I
had SLX in this list several times. That is because I build and test
multiple configurations of SLX: Win32/Win64/Store Version/regular
version. Windows seems to remember any program it has ever seen. When
I clicked them all on, then the icon stayed in the tray.

You may see programs listed in "Select which icons appear on the
taskbar" area that have long since been uninstalled and/or are no longer
on your system. They are very trick to remove ('answers.microsoft.com'
(https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-notification-settings-uninstalled-app/517ce56b-c553-41d1-9756-66755c141f81#:~:text=1%201.%20Open%20the%20Registry%20Editor%20%28Run%3A%20Regedit%29,current%20programs%20the%20Notifications%20area%20will%20be%20restored)).
If you have ever switch between the Store version and the Traditional
version, you may see them both there. I'd say try clicking them
both/all on. YMMV. Anyway, this is a Windows thing. There is nothing
more I can safely do.

I'm not sure I understand what you're suggesting. I'm currently using
version 2.11.6.0 and the icon is grey when squeezelite is off and blue
when squeezelite it's on. I don't see a reason to change this behavior,
as it's quite intuitive (at least for me).

Any though about the taskbar visibility setting not being saved?

That’s in fact rather good news. The UPnP library is now initialized. In
that same repository, you have a -static version of that app, can you
give it a try?

Thanks Greg

Blue would suit me, as I don't use the squeezelite player option, it's
not enabled, ever.

Blue is supposed to mean the squeezelite player is enabled and the green
one means it is not enabled. I can just make it always blue if you all

I will try at the weekend. Yesterday I roll back to 8.2.0 and the
previous version of the plug-in (0.4.x I think). Everything working
normally.

Cheers.
I will post my results.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Spotify: authentication with Spotty failure

plugin.spotty=INFO might already give you a lot more information,
without flooding the log file.

Could you let me know how I should restart LMS with that option enabled?
do I need to run any CLI command or is that something one does from the
web interface on LMS?

You can go to Settings/Advanced/Logging to enable those logging options
on the fly.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty 4.0 - integrate local library with your Spotify collection (LMS 8+)

2022-11-02 Thread Michael Herger

What I cannot get to work so well is Spotify Connect - I get stuck on
particular tracks (clicking next just plays the same track again); the
track playing is different to the one showing as playing; and tracks
that never end.
Is there a solution that has worked for these problems? The reality, I
suppose, is that I don't really need to use Spotify Connect and could
just use Spotty, but we always want more!

Unfortunately I'm aware of the fact that Connect is rather, ahm...
sensitive. I always hoped I'd find the key to stability at some point.
But I'm not there yet.

Oh, man! Dragging and dropping those icons never occured to me. Even if
the bug is not fixed, you saved me quite a few clicks (it's a small
thing but kinda annoying, so thank you, really).

Also, I'm on Windows 10 Pro x64 21H1 if it matters somehow.

If I right click the SQ-X icon in the system tray and select Exit, then
start SQ-X from a desktop shortcut, I get a popup saying that SQ-X is
running the icon is teal, picture below.

39001

This immediately disappears, and I have to drag it down to the system
tray, the icon is now blue.

39002

Using material skin, I can restart LMS, the icon becomes grey with a
triangle/exclamation mark until LMS is running.

39003

When LMS is running again the icon is teal.

39004

Repeatable.

Although I majored in Computer Science and Networking, that was like 20
years ago. I haven't done much of technical work in the last 15 years. I
wouldn't expect for me to need to setup any sort of forwarding rules
because, as you very well say, home networks have a deny all incoming
network traffic unless previously initiated from within the network. I
tried forwarding port TCP4070 just in case for some reason Spotify would
challenge back my connection attempt using a different protocol/port
from within the network. Pretty much like FTP. But if that would have
proven been the case, I would have been reluctant to leave it like
that.

I should have mentioned that I managed to see my raspberry pi acting as
a Spotify endpoint, when I tested volumio. So both my laptop, smartphone
and local network should be able to allow me to see local endpoints and
make use of Spotify Connect.

It's not too bad... I have the same error on another MacOS x86_64, so
it's not the CPU but something else with UPnP and my macOS builds in
