Can't get past 2.1.7 update. Do I need to reinstall the plugin?

I can't update to 2.1.7. Download seems stuck in an infinite loop

SB Player on your phone converts the phone into a squeezebox player. It
requires that your phone (or another android device) be connected to the
same network as your LMS server.

You can't use it outside your home network unless you have some means of
connecting your phone remotely to your home network and LMS.

There are much better apps for Android and Windows than Apple's

As I suspected! Pity because the available apps (squeezepad and iPeng)
just don't have the simplicity and elegance of Material.

I'll stick with the browser version.

Is there any way to increase the font size beyond the Largest setting (a
way to zoom maybe?) which is still too small for my aged eyes. I know
it's possible in the apk which is why I use the app on android but I
can't find a working zoom setting in Safari.

I guess the answer will be 'no'... Any chance of providing Material as
an apple app.?

It works via a browser but a dedicated app like the android apk would be
fantastic.

Everything depends on how a streamer device has dlna/upnp implemented -
some will work with no issues, others can prove complicated to fine
tune.

Also, do you want a streamer with a display? If so, then this can also
prove problematical to get metadata (album art) displayed.

Maybe someone can recommend a working device for you...

I appreciate all your efforts with this. I guess some would just accept

I'd hate to see the plugin just fade away as it has proved ideal for my

The image is the Now Playing screen from LMS apk (material) on android
mediapad.
No screen plugins

The Browse screen shows correctly but Now Playing and Queue screens are
mangled

I'll have to search through an old pile of CDs to see if I can find
another one which has accented titles.

Later...

Yes - that's the wrong disc.

I tried searching MB using the barcode, which returned no results.

The stream is actually being played on a Touch (Denon Optical 1 is the
nom-de-plume) routed to denon amp and speakers.
The same behaviour appears for other players.

The problem is while using LMS on Windows.

Further testing shows the problem is restricted to the Now Playing
screen (same issue on Material apk, Web ui and on Touch Now Playing)

The data is from MusicBrainz

I don't know how to get the ID while using Windows - here's the link to
the album

I just tried a new CD which has French accented characters - these are
not displayed.correctly.

I don't know whether this is an LMS or plugin issue.

Guess it's something to do with utf8 encoding?

{titles are displayed correctly in win media player)

Any suggestions / advice welcome

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: CDplayer plugin

2022-02-18 Thread castalla

Just finished setting up a dedicated server for the Asus cd player -
using one of these mini pcs:

https://www.amazon.com/-/es/ventilador-ordenador-sobremesa-Ethernet-silencioso/dp/B09DTZCZVN/ref=sr_1_11?crid=53093GCSMR8=mele+mini+pc=1645187290=Mele+mini%2Caps%2C338=8-11

I already had the mini Pc which wasn't really being used for much.

Not quite the all-in-one raspi setup I had hoped to get working, but it
worked out-of-the-box (almost).with just the one data cable.

I may return to wrangling the pi3 when I get a powered hub.

Tried again with new install and same settings as far as I could
recall... No luck.

I'm going to exchange the cd for a different one to see what happens.

Meanwhile, I can set up a win10 pc as an exclusive CDplayer for other
half to use. Using Material I can strip down the menus to avoid
confusion with too many choices.

Thanks for all your patience and advice.

Thanks for the explanation. - very helpful.

I tried the Asus using only the data cable with a win 10 notebook -
worked without any problems.

So it looks like it's the power issues on the 3b which cause all the
problems.

I may try again with my new shiny piCore install - heck, I'm getting
back into reinstalling from scratch!

Thanks as ever! I have a spare win10 pc, so given the hassle with the
pi, I'm thing of using win10 if I can get the menus working. I'll check
musicbrainz and report back.

Oh dear...

Run into a problem: using the otg speed set to 1 knocks the bluetooth
dongle transmission into short burst of sound.
If I use the internal Bluetooth then the cd doesn't give any sound.

I guess it's because the speed 1 setting applies to all ports, and I
imagine there's no way to apply the otg speed 1 to just individual
ports.

So, the outcome is either cd or Bluetooth but not both g!

I switched over to using a win10 setup where sound works! But then
another catch appears - the cd player menu shows only 1 entry (raw
format), no album titling and no eject. Double grrr!

I'm not sure how to proceed - give up, run 2 separate Pi's, or stick
with the single menu win10 for cds only.

Sounds good. Now to find a suitable simple remote.

Select next / last track and pause buttons

I'm hoping to find a simple Bluetooth remote which my better half can
use (nothing fancy because of disability issues) - suggestions welcome

The material interface is more than adequate - easy for my wife to use.
It's all looking good!

I am using the default interface in Web browser (Edge).

Normally, I would use material.apk.

(Ps. If the much hyped swing back to CDs comes about, could be that the
plugin gets more use! SWMBO is very happy)

Breakthrough! Full sound now playing

Tweaks - usb audio tweaks - otg-speed set to 1

Of course, this now opens up another issue... Only the first track
plays.

How can I get the whole cd to play tracks 1 - 8?

I noticed the under voltage errors only when testing today...

It's bizarre... It works with cdd2wav.exe and plugin on win10 (although
the menu only shows raw option) while pcp shows all menu items but the
blighter has no sound.

Do you think a powered hub would make a difference? Can't see the
difference other than it might take just one USB data cable?

Yes. I'm using the pcp extension. (fail)

On win10, the cdd2wav.exe is version 1.03. (works)

Some hardware issue - the drive works when set up with LMS on win10.???

Nothing enabled in tweaks

Tried with only pcm cdd2wav enabled - zilch

Oh dear... I seem to have borked the whole picoreplayer system, as I
can't get the pi to reconnect to the network - both WiFi and ethernet
won't connect.

I'll have to rebuild...

Back later with more queries, no doubt!

Okay. Set up without bt and connected by ethernet. Y cable plugged
into 2 ports.

Pi boots and selecting Extras CDplayer gives this:

I'm including the log

Restarting the pi but with cd powered by adapter gives the full plugin
menu, track 1 starts to play but no sound

I'm starting to think that this is never going to work The win 10
implementation works where the cddcwav is from the link in your first
post. This pi setup uses the pCP extension.

It's all very frustrating! 7

I don't have a powered hub. I've no idea why a hub is listed.

So, the data cable of the Y lead is plugged into the pi. The power
cable of the Y is attached to a power adapter with 5v 2.4 amp.

Bluetooth is active for output to bt headphones (which works
brilliantly).

I set up another server on a win 10 laptop. CD works with one USB
port.

CD plays with plugin to radio with sound.

So, this suggests the drive is not DOA!

Not sure how this helps with the rpi problem.

What do the scatterlist errors mean in my previous post?

The new server was a barebones LMS with only cdd2wav and plugin. It was
connected via ethernet. Set up on same pi3b.

As this produces the same outcome, then it suggests something wrong with
the pi or the drive.

I'll set up another LMS on a second win10 pc and try the drive on
that... That's the only way I can think how to test the drive.

How do I run dmesg - from rpi terminal?

Thanks again for all your help on this.
