Renaming the file will not help. You must _NOT_ use the noCPAN version, but
download the FreeBSD or full tarball. As noted on the SlimNAS page.

Page refresh isn't a good idea, as it will re-trigger the last action you did,
eg. restart SBS.

Make sure networking is fully configured in FreeNAS. In particular verify

after having solved the first issue with an incomplete
squeezeboxserver-7.4.0-28672-noCPAN.tgz (page 6), I now have an issue
with internet radio playback.
It seems to be related to slimnas, as installing the SBS on my XP and
switching my Duet to that server & library allows me listen

which is needed for flac) is missing in the latest slimnas.. strange,
but at list some (if not all, will test more extensively tomorrow) of my
m4a apple lossless files are playing now after adding this lib

Still no joy, look like there is a problem with bsdtar of freenas 0.7 ?
Now I recreate the .tgz file on my mac and this one untar well however
after installation
I end up with a squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28791-noCPAN folder with the
content of the
.tgz file and an empty squeezebox folder created by
SORRY, ít's working now!!!

What squeezebox*.tgz did you try to install? This is only compatible with
7.4.0. 7.4.1 will _not_ run without tinkering.
Next release will handle 7.4.1+ too.

I only see the output you sent, and that says that the file's header was
corrupted, doesn't it? Maybe some other tar versions a
