No worries, after you said FreeBSD i remembered seeing one on the
download page of the website. Thing that foxed me at first was some of
the how to's on the web saying the nocpan.

The testing of the SlimNas on my VIA EPIA box went super, so next thing
is to build a propper box with an Atom board.

Thanks again.

That's correct: up to SlimNAS 1.5.x the noCPAN version was good enough, as
SlimNAS brought all the binaries needed. But as we (Logitech) now provide them,
SlimNAS no longer needs to be updated for every SBS update. But it requires you
to download the full tarball or the FreeBSD flavour.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.4.99 for SqueezeboxServer 7.4 / FreeNAS 0.7

2009-11-21 Thread gti_uk

Hi,

Im trying to setup slimnas for my dad. Ive installed the latest build
of FreeNas (LiveCD 0.7 i386)
I downloaded the latest version of SlimNas from your website today
I downloaded squeezeboxserver-7.4.2-29296-noCPAN.tgz

I followed the following guide at smallnetbuilder titled How To Build
a SqueezeCenter Server with FreeNAS and a T5700 and all went well, i
ran the command (bin/sh /mnt/YourShareHere/slimnas/slimnas-install.sh)
which went fine and i got the Extensions tab appear. I then went into
the Squeezebox server page and got the screen up.

The problem is it is not showing the options to install the squeezebox
server software. Ive tried renaming it to squeezecenter-noCPAN.tgz and
that did not work either. I read the post by elightbo who seemed to have
the same issue but i did not understand the fix he did.
Ive ran the dir command (ive got no experiance in linux) and got the
following.

$ ls -l /mnt/Data/slimnas
total 117360
drwxrwxrwx 3 www wheel 512 Nov 21 14:54 etc
-rwxrw-rw- 1 ftp wheel 837 Nov 19 23:15 slimnas-install.sh

drwxrwxrwx 6 ftp wheel 512 Oct 19 11:55 usr
drwxrwxrwx 3 www wheel 512 Nov 21 14:54 var

Does anyone have any idea where i have gone wrong?

Regards

Trev

Replace the noCPAN in the file name with FreeBSD.

 ie:

 squeezeboxserver-7.4.2-29296-noCPAN.tgz -
 squeezeboxserver-7.4.2-29296-FreeBSD.tgz

Renaming the file will not help. You must _NOT_ use the noCPAN version, but
download the FreeBSD or full tarball. As noted on the SlimNAS page.

BTW: If you're running the very latest SlimNAS build, you should get a direct
link to the latest compatible build right on the Squeezebox extension page in
the FreeNAS web UI.

I installed Slimnas 1.4.99 on a fresh install of FreeNas 0.7RC

Though you said you installed 1.4.99, I'm assuming that you meant
1.9.99? Anything SlimNAS release prior to 1.9.99 (i.e. 1.5.1) will only
run SqueezeBox Server v7.4.0. You need to install 1.9.99 (it's Beta
code, I think) to run 7.4.1 and later.

stro;477435 Wrote:
First, it seemed strange to me that i had to rename the SBS package to
 squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-FreeBSD.tgz instead of NoCPAN

You need to download the complete archive (ends tgz, ~55MB), not the
NoCPAN archive and rename it. The direct download link to the complete
archive is:
http://downloads.slimdevices.com/SqueezeboxServer_v7.4.1/squeezeboxserver-7.4.1.tgz.
There were architectural changes in the distribution of the files that
MHerger and Logitech/Slim developers made to better integrate the two
components.

Page refresh isn't a good idea, as it will re-trigger the last action you did,
eg. restart SBS.

and these after first scan (it stops after 6 albums):

Code:

What device are you trying to stream to?
I am using SlimRIO softwware on Dell DDAR receivers, they only support
MP3, but the same errors occur when I use SoftSqueeze.

I have now unticked the Use Flash AAC streams box in BBC iPlayer and I
can now play some of the BBC listen again stuff.

Anything that requires transcoding seems to fail with the same error.

I discovered some curiosity while trying to reproduce errors mentioned
in my first post. I must admit that now there are two SBS's running on
my network - one on Windows XP machine, another on FreeNAS.

Following scenario:

1. transporter is connected to SBS on FreeNAS with German language
settings
2. connect it to SBS with German language on XP
3. change language on FreeNAS's SBS to English
4a. disable - enable SBS on FreeNAS - Failed
4b. disable - enable SBS on FreeNAS again - Ready
5. connect transporter to SBS on FreeNAS again - get missing
RADIOTIME_.., STAFF_PICKS, SHOUTCAST strings in logfile.

But i was not able to reproduce missing EINFÃ#339;GEN, LÃ#8211;SCHEN
etc. strings again!

This all applies to both German and English language settings on
transporter.

But You are right, Michael, all this is maybe related to
SqueezeboxServer and not to SlimNAS, except points 4a and 4b?

Internet Radio functionality. It also solved the logfile growing

I then better understand your comment earlier...

Unfortunately it seems disconected from the failing Internet Radio

Unfortunately it seems disconected from the failing Internet Radio
prolbem as I now have another, working, channel playing, and I have
loads of those errors (the server.log is now 45GB!! after less than 10

Did you replace the function.inc file? That message shouldn't show up any

2009-10-08 Thread PerLundborg

Hi again,

after having solved the first issue with an incomplete
squeezeboxserver-7.4.0-28672-noCPAN.tgz (page 6), I now have an issue
with internet radio playback.

It seems to be related to slimnas, as installing the SBS on my XP and
switching my Duet to that server library allows me listen to Internet
Radio Local SR P4 Stockholm.
Switching back to the Freenas disables audio output, the station is
found, with banner and logotype.

Currently on
Freenas:
0.7RC1 Sardaukar (revision 4735) built on Sat Jun 20 20:25:01 UTC 2009

Slimnas:
SlimNAS Version v1.4.99f

SBC:
Version: 7.4.0 - r28672 @ Mon Sep 28 17:52:57 PDT 2009

Any ideas, as this was working on the FreeNAS 0.69.2 / SC 7.3.3 combo I
had previously.

It might not be strange. The flac executable is needed to transcode
your ALAC files to FLAC.

Hi Michael,

Nevertheless I tried to unpack this *.tgz but it failed each tome. I
downloaded this and several other files. None of them (only slimnas.tgz)
I could unpack.
This morning I downloaded squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28781-noCPAN.tgz again
and at an other pc I could unpack this.
What went wrong at home I don’t know. I will try it again when I am
back home. Otherwise I will copy the unpacked
squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28781-noCPAN.tgz in the squeezebox directory and
hopefully it will run.

I also have to thank you because I am using slimnas for a couple of
month’s now and had never any troubles. This is just a simple hick up
somewhere.
Thanks for the afford making slimnas 1.4.99

Regards,
Ad.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.4.99 for SqueezeboxServer 7.4 / FreeNAS 0.7

2009-10-07 Thread Michael Herger
 freenas:/mnt/LANDISK/slimnas# tar -tf
 squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28781-noCPAN.tgz | head -10
tar: Unrecognized archive format: Inappropriate file type or format
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors.

Thanks everybody! The looping seems to be caused by a corrupt archive.
I'll add some sanity checks to the installer. Stay tuned...

Michael, I believe archive is ok - I was able to extract it w/out any
issues on mac.. besides, I tried other archives - it cannot be that all
of them are corrupted

What went wrong at home I don’t know.

Whenever you try to re-download a file, make sure you wipe your browser's cache
or it will simply just give you the same broken file again.

back home. Otherwise I will copy the unpacked
 squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28781-noCPAN.tgz

Copy the archive, not the unpacked folder structure. Then run the regular
installation process.

I only see the output you sent, and that says that the file's header was
corrupted, doesn't it? Maybe some other tar versions are less sensitive to
headers or similar. But that failure is responsible for the bad behaviour of
the install script. Ok, some lazy programming on my side helped a bit too :-).
But files which give that response will not install, even when my homework is
done.

Thanks for your understanding.-

I installed everything again with clean directories and installation.

What squeezebox*.tgz did you try to install? This is only compatible with
7.4.0. 7.4.1 will _not_ run without tinkering.

Next release will handle 7.4.1+ too.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.4.99 for SqueezeboxServer 7.4 / FreeNAS 0.7

2009-10-07 Thread twautele

Still no joy, look like there is a problem with bsdtar of freenas 0.7 ?

Now I recreate the .tgz file on my mac and this one untar well however
after installation
I end up with a squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28791-noCPAN folder with the
content of the
.tgz file and an empty squeezebox folder created by the install
procedure ?

I try to rename the squeezeboxserver-7.4.1-28791-noCPAN to squeezebox,
Freenas extention complain that this is not compatible version and I
just don't know what's the right name for the squeezeboxserver whatever
it's called now :-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 1.4.99 for SqueezeboxServer 7.4 / FreeNAS 0.7

2009-10-07 Thread local . bin

Firstly: Great news that you've managed to get this up and running :)
thanks! amd64 version next ;)

Anyway, I'm at the point of running the script and nothing happens?

I've installed the latest nightly build of 32bit freenas, created the
share and copied the 3 files.

Anything obvious spring to mind that I am doing wrong?

TIA

Need more details. What script? How are you running it?

I've installed the latest nightly build of 32bit freenas, created the
share and copied the 3 files.

Latest is always a relative term :-). What exact build?

What's the 3 files names?

Next won't be 64 bit support, but simplified installation :-).
