Any player (connected to LMS) can be controlled.

Stay away from Squeeze Commander - it's unsupported and no longer being
developed.

Both of those mentioned Android controllers are superior to the free
Logitech one IMO. I have both and regularly use both so I wouldn't say
either is better, just different.

OrangeSqueeze

Still in active development, you can also download a preview version of
the next major release with some nice new features.
Nice and streamlined to use
Good integration with SqueezePlayer

Squeeze Commander

Development abandoned AFAIK. Still works well mind.
Less intuitive initially, but quickly doesn't become a problem
MUCH better facilities for building on the fly playlists. There's a play
more button which sets what clicking on music tracks does, Play, add to
end, play next and open context menu are all quickly selectable options.
This is my main reason for not switching to Orange squeeze permanently.

Both of them offer loads of extra stuff like downloading and are just a
more pleasant experience than the Logitech controller app.

That's a fair comment but even without continued development SC still
remains one of, if not the best Android controllers out there IMO.
Orange Squeeze is nearly there but lags behind in a few key areas that
are important to me.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Android apps that work with Squeezelite

2013-10-08 Thread leafygreens

Hi,
I was wondering if Squeeze Commander or Orange Squeeze are able to
control clients running Squeezelite? Maybe it's a dumb question. I get
the feeling that these Android apps work through the LMS, and the
identity of the clients (whether it's Squeezebox or Squeezelite
softplayer) doesn't matter?

What's your favorite Android controller app for LMS? Orange Squeeze?
Squeeze Commander? Do these paid apps offer better features/interface
than the free Logitech Media Server app?
