Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
Hello, when listening to a playlist from Spotify (thru the use of Spotty) and trying to add a bookmark in the context menu (Add bookmark for current playlist) nothing happens and the there is no entry in the bookmarks menu. Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong? Hi I have started to use this plugin. I edited the settings and set the "List of genres for automatic bookmarks" to "Audiobooks, Podcast, Comedy" however I have noticed that bookmarks can be generated for albums with a genre type that are not in that list. The only situation where it issues a "play" command is when you select a bookmark in the plugins menu. In my own installation i also have two players which are normally powered down completely (A receiver which only gets power when the amplifier it is connected to is turned on and a bedside radio which i shut down with a script when it's idling). These clients don't start playing by themselves after they get power. duedeldu wrote: > > This behaviour only occurs on bookmarked albums. Are you sure? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
I´m using the Bookmarks plugin since a while now. Works great so far, but i have one problem. Sometimes the players starts playback automaticly after powering on. This destroys my bookmarks, because the amp is powered off. No one hears anything, but my SB Touch (or other players) plays the last bookmark til its end. All my squeezeboxes are set to "stop on power off / do not continue". This behaviour only occurs on bookmarked albums. duedeldu's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65563 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
Ok, installed lms 8.2 on a windows laptop, scanned just a small audiobook range and it works! Interestingly, in terms of network complexity and latency this is a worse situation than my original setup, as the laptop I just installed the temporary server on is accessing the audio book from the original ubuntu server over wifi. Does this mean it's not a network issue? I don't know, I don't really know too much about this stuff. The ubuntu server is an old underpowered machine and yes ubuntu 17.10 is old, but I didn't this would be the issue. When I have a bit of time I'll upgrade ubuntu. loz2103's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=55887 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Now this is weird. I installed a squeezeserver in a new Ubuntu Server 17.10 installation and ... the plugin works without a problem. You are now the third user with this problem and i am not able to reproduce it. The important rows in the log are: > [21-11-12 17:03:21.5215] > Plugins::BookmarkHistory::Plugin::playlistCallback (1322) request > failed. result is:{ > can_seek => 1, > "digital_volume_control" => 1, > duration => "26.644", > ... > "time" => 0, > *waitingToPlay => 1*, > } > [21-11-12 17:03:21.5224] > Plugins::BookmarkHistory::Plugin::playlistCallback (1327) > currentindex=0 > [21-11-12 17:03:21.5236] > Plugins::BookmarkHistory::Plugin::playlistCallback (1356) *no url for > row:{}* Michael suspected network issues at the time (waitingToPlay=1 indicates that the server has send data to the player but the player has not yet started playing). Does this problem occur only with the radio or also with other clients? sternenjaeger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57562 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
I got the log. The problem is the same as two other users had before: The squeezeserver starts the playback before it has finished building the playlist. And this prevents my plugin from jumping to the bookmarked track. In their case it was caused by the squeezeserver build for their Synology NAS. This could be solved by switching to a different build for the Synology. At the time i couldn't reproduce the error - but i will setup a squeezeserver based on Ubuntu 17.10 server and see if this installation will also show this weird behaviour. My guess is that this is caused by the rather outdated Ubuntu 17.10 sternenjaeger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57562 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hi there, I've only just started using this plugin and seem to have the problem that some others have had in the past, where the bookmark always starts the album from the first track. I was trying to use the bookmarking on an SB radio, but controlled through the web interface. The issue in the log seems to be this entry: [21-11-12 11:06:16.2432] Plugins::BookmarkHistory::Plugin::newsongCallback (1561) Trigger for newsong exists but is to old (to be expected when you press play after reconnect). client:Slim::Player::SqueezePlay=ARRAY(0x562e311cefd0) time: 1636715176 trigger value:1636714536 request:playlist newsong url:file:// I was originally running LMS 8.0.0 on Ubuntu Server (17.10), so upgraded to 8.2.1, but this didn't solve the issue. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
Downgrading to LMS 7.9.2-168.0029 did not solve the issue. Obviously some change between pinkdots release 0024 and 0029 broke your plugin on Synology (x86_64?) machines. I therefore decided to check out the docker solution. I usually prefer official and stable releases, but it turned out that the lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver docker images marked as 'stable' resp. 'latest' do not start in host mode. Some of the LMS-plugins which are essential for me mandatorily require host mode, therefore I had try the 'dev'-image of LMS 8.20. Up to now it runs smoothly - and your plugin works like a charm. And - surprisingly - my Syno enters hibernation mode despite running docker. However, I am afraid that the Syno does not stay in hibernation mode continuously. I have to observe this further - but if hibernation is interrupted too often its disadvantages (HD lifespan) outweigth the energy savings. So even if my optimal solution would be a working LMS-Syno-Package, the docker-image is a workaround I seem to have to live with (even though I feel a bit uncomfortable running a 'dev'-release...). Thank you for still caring for your extremly helpful plugin, which for me is a basic requirement for using the LMS for music *and* audiobooks. hoewer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Thanks for your reply. It would easily be possible the test another LMS release. But I'm not sure which one to choose: In Mr. Floppys signature he reports his (old) version to be 8.0.0-1584980764 (by first occurance of the problem he and hasn't changed the signature later). In his problem solving reply he refers to "Pinkdots version 24". I've no clue which version this could be. All of Pinkdots releases can still be found on https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsupdate , but I can't identify any of them as "version 24" ... hoewer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=71318 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Sorry, took a while - the fix was easy but then i had no time to test it. The context menu should now also be visible on older players (At least i can see them on my Boom). I also restrict the context menu to the currently played track (i. e. it is suppressed for other tracks in the playlist). This should work on all clients. Another small improvement: In the previous version the plugin always created it's own playlist if you bookmarked a remote track. I now changed that so that, if you are playing a saved playlist, the bookmark will always be created for this playlist. sternenjaeger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57562 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

On Michael's advice I removed all third party plugins to try to identify a problem I was experiencing. When I came to reinstall them I was unable to install the Bookmark plugin - no error message was received but when the server restarted the plugin was back in the list of uninstalled plugins. I will try again tomorrow once my scanning has completed. Add server.plugins and plugin.extensions to the logging options, make the setting stick. Install once again, restart LMS. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
Unfortunately it didn't work either. What I did now because I couldn't imagine that I was the only one with the mistake. I uninstalled my LMS and reinstalled it directly with Pinkdots version 24. After a first try with only a part of my collection I can say that your regular plugin works. I only had a few albums read in. Now I let read my complete disk and test it again afterwards. But I assume that it will still work. I suspect that the bugs crept in due to the updates from the original Synology beta package to the Pinkdots version. I assume that reading my library will take until tonight. I will continue to report. Thanks for your help and sorry for the circumstances. I asked in the dev subforum and Michael suspects network issues or transcoding delays as causes. You tried it with regular mp3 files, right? If yes did you change the servers transcoding or bitrate limiting settings? Anyway: If the playback really starts immediately after you press "play" then i doubt that this is caused by network issues or the delay caused by transcoding. I added an additional timer. This retriggers the scan of the current playlist of the client when the client does not return it in the first call. I have no idea if this resolves your problem. If you want you can give it a try. Add the following repository: http://mjohnen.bplaced.net/repo/repo_beta.xml You then should get the new version 1.2.17 - Please let me know if the plugin now works for you. Hi, good to see that you find an angle to resolve that error. I try to reduce the bookmark size but that doesn't help. If you need someone to test, give me a beta repository link (if you can create that) and I can check your new bookmark if its available. I know that's hard to fix something if you cannot see the error. And in additional, I understand that you need time to fix it and thanks again to take a look. Mr. Floppy wrote: > > Edit: It plays direct at the beginning with no delay. I _think_ i know what happens there: The player has not yet received the full playlist but starts to play anyway. Unfortunately the callback of my plugin needs to loop through the playlist to find out if it contains a bookmarked track. This will need some changes in the callback functions of the plugin. May take a while - i really don't have a lot of time available. And i need to test this, because of possible side effects. What you could try: Limit the maximum playlist size in the server settings to a really low value (i. e. 10) - My guess is that the bookmarks then work. But i could be wrong. sternenjaeger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57562 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

According to the documentation this means "A flag telling whether the player isn't actually playing, but still waiting for data or something." I never experienced that - even on my backup server which is just some small raspberry pi compatible thing with no horsepower at all. Also not with remote streams like Spotify. Is it possible that this server and/or the network connection between player and server is really slow? IMHO you should also experience a delay between selecting an album or a playlist and the time the player actually starts playing. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
Sorry for the awfully late answer - I do get notifications for Updates in this thread but i seem to have overlooked them. And i have been really busy the last couple of months, so i didn't look at the forum. I had a look through the logfile you uploaded a couple of message before. At first glance i think the problem is here: Code: [19-07-02 08:59:20.6202] Plugins::BookmarkHistory::Plugin::playlistCallback (1356) no url for row:{} Since you just tried it again: Do you still had set the Loglevel to "Debug". If yes, could you please upload the server log again? I am a bit puzzled. The Warning message above says that the plugin is unable to retrieve the current playlist of the client. This is a basic LMS command, i am sure it works in all server versions. Hi, I remove the plugin from the box and make a restart. I remove /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/prefs/bookmarkHistory.prefs by hand. I check if the remove of the plugin also delete /volume1/@appstore/SqueezeCenter/Cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/BookmarkHistory. It was deleted. I check if the repository is correct (http://mjohnen.bplaced.net/repo/repo.xml) I install the plugin from the repository. The Bookmarks at the gui is empty. Start an album and select track 52. Wait until bookmark is set. Switch to a different album. Wait again until this is also set. The problem is the only way I can make the Bookmark plugin recognize the audiobook tag is to have the audiobook files analyzed as music files (I suppose they can't be tagged otherwise) I'm looking for a workaround. Is it possible to make different libraries for example? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
As an experiment I've just tried playing one of the files with Volumio on a Pi2. While Volumio doesn't have a bookmark plugin, it does report the correct track length: a total of 1365:17 min/sec. I don't know what if anything that proves, but it could point to the problem being with Squeezebox rather than the file. pettifoggery's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=69041 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

The server shows the same weird track length 35791:23 min. which would be ~ 25 days, but bookmarking this track work without a problem @pettifoggery: Could you tell me if the problem is a) that the plugin does not create any bookmarks at all (i. e. you don't see an entry in the menu of the bookmarks plugin) or if the bookmark exists but the playback does not jump to the bookmarked position. Then I use mp3diags to clean up any loose threads. Finally, I add the tags with Puddletag. I do all this for easier portability and management. And so far I haven't had any problems with the file sizes or track lengths on my Linux desktop, LibreElec, android phone or Sansa clip player. While the workaround of hacking all my 20+ hour audiobooks in to 50 or so rough chunks seems like an obvious solution, it would mean weeks-months of hassle just to accommodate the quirks of a single platform. I think I'd prefer returning to bluetooth streaming from a phone to a portable speaker. The longest track i have in my library is somewhat smaller (0,5GB with app. 7h playtime) and the bookmarking works fine with that. I don't see any reason why the plugin should not be able to handle longer files. Please try to jump in the track a few times using the web interface or one of the iOS/Android apps (i.e from the beginning to near the end or somewhere in between) with just a few seconds delay between each jump. Does your client execute the jumps? If you here stuttering or the client does jump to the wring position or not at all then the plugin can't work (because it does the same - it sends a command to the server to change the played position to the one it has stored in it's settings. sternenjaeger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57562 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
Hello, I've been happily using your wonderful bookmark plugin for the last month or so. Everything working just fine. That was until I added an audiobook with a single large file. The file is 1.3gb and +32 hours long. I've tried tweaking every option in the plugin's setting but still the plugin will not bookmark this audiobook. Is this a problem with the plugin or a bug in / limitation of Squeezebox? I should mention that Squeezebox isn't listing the audiobook's time correctly. It lists a duration of 324:36 instead of the correct time of 32:27:47 that I get on my desktop, phone and portable player. I am using Squeezebox 7.9.2 with PiCorePlayer on a Pi1. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
I think stop might be safer than pause to assure the correct placing of bookmarks that are used across several devices on an LMS server. In case anyone is unsure, stop can executed by pressing the device power button having first set Stop at power off in LMS Settings >> Device >> Audio, or by pressing and holding the pause button on the device, or within the LMS web page by clicking the playlist clear button (X) bottom right of the screen. majones's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13029 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] New plugin for audio bookmarks
As outlined in another thread majone mentions, not all sources do support seeking - which is required for this plugin. Spotty does (if you're running a recent LMS 7.9.1), Qobuz does not. Other sources depend on their server configuration. Am 22.02.18 um 19:01 schrieb sternenjaeger: majones wrote: I think I have the solution in two parts. Firstly I'm playing MPEG-4 audio files which LMS transcodes to FLAC for my Boom players but leaves as MPEG-4 for my Radios. The problem is that LMS appears to be incapable of specifying a MPEG-4 time jump for the Radios, so they start at the beginning of the track or where they last remembered a pause. The solution is to disable native MPEG-4, so LMS takes control of everything and correctly specifies the timing via a FLAC stream. Secondly, I think it's better to stop rather than pause the devices, because I suspect the pickup point after "stop" is definitely provided by LMS that works across all devices whereas pause may allow a device to decide where it wishes to restart a track. Thanks for the update - i was beginning to wonder if this could be an odd bug that i overlooked. For example, the Soundcloud plugin doesn't allow timeshifting of Shur-i-kan's monthly "in the mix" tracks that are about an hour long, whereas the Podcast plugin allows access to shurikan.libsyn.com/rss that can be timeshifted. Both mp3. Because I'm using audiobooks with several separate chapters, I specify LMS to play albums (ie the entire audiobook). Bookmark correctly lists the album, and the tracks, and certainly goes back to the correct track across all devices. But then it can get its knickers in a twist, sometimes starting the track at the correct time, sometimes starting the track at the beginning before jumping to the correct time, sometimes starting the track at the beginning and not jumping to the correct time, and sometimes pausing for tens of seconds before doing anything. I appreciate that this may be an LMS issue, but it would be good to get your view. majones's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13029 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=102859 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
