Hi Jaca - could you please head over to the 1.9.0 thread
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108030) and post your
server.log file there? Also: what does Settings/Advanced/Spotty say?
What max2play Version? Please post all answers in that other thread.
Thanks!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-09-22 Thread Jaca

Hi Michael,

First of all thank you for your work and keeping squeezebox/LMS
functional.

I was using spotty on raspberry pi (max2play) since official spotify
letter about dropping support. All worked fine until I updated spotty to
v1.9.0.
I'm not able to stream any music from spotify now.. I can see my
playlists etc.. (so I'm logged in) but whenever I try to play smth I get
error on player display:
"Problem: Can't open file for:"

I've reinstalled plugin , rebooted LMS, rebooted Raspi few times..
Updated LMS to recent nightly (it was 7.9.1 before from April) but still
no luck..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-09-22 Thread Michael Herger

I thought that replacing the leading spotifyfamily3: with spotify:// in
the playlist files would do the trick - just rescan the playlists and
that's it.

Rescan does not look up metadata from remote services. Would the
playlist display work if you played the playlist once?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-09-22 Thread godIsInTheRadio

Hi there - and first of all thanks for the great plugin.

I have switched over from Triode/RichieZed's SpotifyFamily Plugin. My
kids have some LMS playlist referencing songs in spotify. Now the
urlscheme for those songs was something like
spotifyfamily3:track:2MHCiOohBZEQuLgDTPvSzF, whereas the scheme for
Spotty looks like spotify://track:2MHCiOohBZEQuLgDTPvSzF.

I thought that replacing the leading spotifyfamily3: with spotify:// in
the playlist files would do the trick - just rescan the playlists and
that's it.
Unfortunately, it seems that LMS will keep the old URL somewhere in its
database. As soon as I deinstall the SpotfyFamily plugin, the new
playlists don't work anymore - songs will play, but there is no info at
all about them, just lists of empty items. Reinstalling the
SpotifyFamily plugin and having copies of the original playlist files
for LMS to scan will show all Metadata in LMS again - but just after the
original playlist has once been opened. Looking at the Metadata from the
item in the new Playlist, the URL shown in LMS is still the
spotifyfamily... scheme.

Is there any way that the old playlists could be migrated with LMS
database being updated for the new URL scheme?

Thanks, Marcus

You should try
http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/repo.xml
as the repository address.

In the first post of the thread "The Spotty Spotify implementation" is
mentioned the repo-address
http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins/test.xml
which is a bit confusing since the Spotty plugin is not there.

No, just run flac. Most likely it will fail. Maybe it's linked against

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-09-19 Thread Nautilus

Sorry if this has been asked before, but the only references to similar
issues I was able find were pointing to very old versions or they seemed
somewhat different to what I am experiencing. The background is that
I've been successfully running Spotty on LMS 7.9.1 installed on Qnap
TS-259 Pro II (Intel) NAS and for some reason Spotty has stopped working
recently. I'm not exactly sure when this has happened (haven't listened
to Spotify on LMS for a few weeks), but the two things I did a while ago
are that I installed ShairTunes2W plugin and updated to latest 7.9.1
nightly (that was around two weeks ago, I've now updated again just to
be sure it is not the issue).

Browsing etc. works fine so it is logged in ok I guess, but when I try
to play anything it looks as it would be starting (counts a few first
seconds of the song in the now playing window) but after a couple of
seconds stops (no sound at any point). In the log I see these lines:

Code:

sh:
/share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/LogitechMediaServer/var/home/SqueezeboxServer/Bin/i386-linux/flac:
 No such file or directory

and sometimes also:

Code:

/checkout/src/libcore/result.rs:859
note: Run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` for a backtrace.

but when I go and have a look, the file is definitely there:

Could be I don't understand correctly, but do you mean you opened port

isn't it?
IIRC you are only the second person in this thread to mention this port.
I have it closed, no uPNP or something . it's always closed. No problems
with speed. Just out of curousity, I opened the port for all traffic
from all sources to my LMS for a short period, to see if I could see any
speed difference. I didn't notice anything. I can't imagine that this is
a common problem? Michael Herger didn't even know where the port was
for...

Thinking about it a bit, it ought to be possible to connect the output
of the spotty helper (or librespot using stdout for output) to the input
of LMS, shouldn't it?

Yes, that's working indeed. I played with this long before I implemented
content browsing for Spotty. There's one major issue, though: the
pipeline would download the tracks as quickly as your internet
connection allows, to fill up internal buffers. Which means that when
you hit the "next" button in Spotify, it could take a long time before
the track change arrived at your Squeezebox (dozens of seconds).
Librespots has hooks to trigger a script or something on play/stop
events. But those would be triggered on regular track changes, too.

It's not off the table. Just a few hours ago I played again with this
idea. But it's not there yet.

Not to detract from the great work you have done to develop spotty, but
it wasn't initially clear that spotify connect wasn't implemented. It's
not mentioned in your original post and seeing as the authorization

might get confused.

Spotify Connect is not mentioned because it's not part of the plugin. I

I haven't seen your previous posts or are up-to-date on your problem,
but I assume you have tried to get Spotty working and has given up?

You don't loose anything in your Spotify account by uninstalling Spotty.
Your spotify albums and playlist are in your Spotify account and are
also accessible from other Spotify supported devices, like for example
smartphones.
If you cancel your premium subscription, but continue as a Spotify user,
you definitely wont get Spotty working on LMS.

Thanks for your great work on this plugin Michael.

I've installed it but can only get some of the functionality to work at
present. The integration via the LMS app works for me, but spotify
connect doesn't at this point.

I notice that unless I happen to be playing a track via the LMS app, the
spotty binary isn't running. If I start the binary manually at my
console my squeezebox appears in spotify connect - I can connect and
play a track, lots of unprintable characters appear on my console.

Nothing appears in the server log, where should I look next?

at first thank you for this great plugin, I'm using it on my raspberry

Ahm... that's part of the latest Spotty plugin already. But I'm still

much help from others) to get it done... If you have found a simpler
procedure than the one I used, I'd be happy to learn about it.

Could you give me some hints how to proceed? e.g. when I call spotty

What do you want to do? If it's using Spotify with your SB, then all the
magic is done in the plugin already. Nothing left to do.

No, I don't know. Played around with it a bit more last week. But it
didn't look good... Maybe I'll be able to do some limited
implementation, like play back from Spotify. But volume control,
shuffling, skipping etc. might only work through LMS controls, not
Spotify's.

I try to keep the plugin repository up to date with latest changes.
Unfortunately I don't believe in FAQs or change logs in the first

You can add your daily mix to a New Playlist using a desktop or other
app. It will then show up in Spotty Playlists. The only problem is
that it won't add new songs when you get to the end of the playlist.

(so far) Synology users: this build adds support for ARMv5 based NAS
devices. I've had a lot of feedback from Synology users missing this. So
hopefully this good news finds you well.

Other (minor) changes:

- Play back tracks with the correct account.
- Re-factored the account handling. There's no more any "default"
account. Just use what needs to and can be used.
- Removed the audio cache option. It's been buggy and mostly useless.

I have discovered a glitch in the current version of Spotty. Sometimes,

although the current track hasn't finished. I get that a lot recently

I think I saw this happen on one of my kids' radio a few days ago. IMHO
it must be something on Spotify's end, as the Spotty code has not
changed recently.

Hi there,

does have anybody of you guys an idea how to play a podcast with the
spotty plugin? The menu item "podcasts" is not been shown at the
squeezebox as it is shown at the android app. An I found no way to add a
podcast to a playlist which would make me able to have so on the
squeezebox.

I am becoming desperate on that issue... :(
Thanks for any help

Yes, I've noticed this a few times when Spotify has created a playlist
for me based on what I'm playing (or maybe it's the LMS keep the music
going that's created it?).

I had assumed it was because the next track that it had lined up was not
playable in my region, gets a little confused and jumps to the next
available track lopping the end off the current track as a result.

No. It's part of Spotify's deal: if you want playback on a device, you
have to pay the premium offer.

Not really, I'm sorry to say. You could enable info logging for
network.squeezenetwork, check the "keep setting for reboot" or similar
box at the top of the logging page. Then restart LMS. It should show you
what interaction it does with mysb.com. (and make sure you reset the
logging settings once done, or you'll end up with a lot of noise in the
server.log file)

I _think_ this one's using a ARMv5 CPU ("Marvell 6282-ARM"). Which means
it might not run, yet. But just a few postings up you see that user jr01

I've tried searching the thread... but i'm unable to come up with an

I'm running multiple Raspberry pi's running multiple OS's on different

1. Pi2 with PiDrive running Plex media server & LMS
2. Pi2 running Rasplex with Squeezelite
3. Pi zero running PiCoreplayer
4. Pi zero running PiCoreplayer
5. Pi B running PiCoreplayer

However, some of my setups stream wireless streams with no problem, but
my oldest Pi B running PiCoreplayer keeps stuttering on me... i've tried
different setups, different tweaks, but it keeps havind this great lag
when using the spotty streams to play my spotify playlists.

Is it possible to limit the Bitrate? if so ... where? I've found some
people in the thread talking about some plugins... but i'm unable to
find these..
could someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks and keep up the good work!!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-09-09 Thread dbasskin

I'm using Spotty on LMS 7.9.0 on Mac OS 10.10. On Spotify, I've
organized a large number of playlists in folders and subfolders, but
accessing my playlists on Spotty simply shows them at one, flat level,
displaying all the individual albums that are in my playlist folders.
The folders aren't shown, as they are in the Spotify apps. Is this an
unavoidable limitation, or would it be possible for Spotty to also show
the folders? Many thanks.

FreeNAS is based on FreeBSD. The 'normal' Spotty helper application
won't run on that. You need the 'Spotty helper plug-in for FreeBSD 11'
to get this working. But having said that, you seem to be using a really
old (3,5 year) FreeNAS version based on FreeBSD 9.2, not sure the helper
plug-in will run on that. Probably not. You could update to FreeNAS 11
and if you do, I would also advise to then build the latest LMS from
ports (7.9.1.g2017.07.11) as 7.8 is also old.

I'm running FreeNAS 11.0-U3, with LMS 7.9.1 in a jail, and Spotty works
perfectly fine with that setup.

You'd have to set up a FreeBSD environment with Rust
(https://wiki.freebsd.org/Rust), then try to compile the spotty helper
application for that plattform
(https://github.com/michaelherger/spotty). I know that others have
compiled it for FreeBSD, but I doubt they did for i386...

I had this problem when I installed Sophos Home on Windows 10 -
spotty.exe was detected as containing a virus and deleted! I tried to
add file/folder and app exclusions but Sophos insisted on deleting
spotty.exe anyway. In a previous life I used Sophos products (in the
medical world) and have great respect for them but in the end I
uninstalled it so that I could keep using spotty. Anyway I went ahead
early this week and contacted Sophos support to report the problem and
eventually submitted a sample of spotty.exe to their support team. Today
- Friday - I installed Sophos Home again to see if it had been addressed
and it appears to have been.

So Sophos Home for Windows, or maybe the virus definitions, seems to
have been updated and spotty now remains intact. I have no idea if it
was the sample I submitted that was effective in sorting the problem out
but I'm happy. Hopefully others of you will give it a try.

I've still excluded spotty.exe and the InstalledPlugins folder so that
may have helped as well

Bob

Hi Michael,

I have some problems using spotty.

With the old Plugins I was able to mark Spotify-Playlists as favorite
and play them directly from the main menu (LMS-Interface -> Favorites).
Now, with this Plugin, it's also possible to mark playlists as favorite,
but when I click on it to play that list, I just get an error message:

Is this not supported or could you add this please?

Yes, I re-installed both the custom build and Spotty itself, but I
haven't tried just Spotty yet.

Another question, now that everything works... Is it possible to sort an
artist's albums by year? The Spotify app does this, at least on mac, and
as that's the way I've always sorted my record collection, it would be
neat.
