Is that right? Isn't the plugin supporting multiple users for the
purpose of authenticating which ever user challenges it and has user
access?

As you've seen you can add multiple accounts and access their content
using the menus on your Squeezebox. What I wanted to say is that in
Connect mode (using your mobile Spotify app or the like) you can only
see the players which were used by your account before the Connect
daemon was started.

Michael,
Here is the screen shot of the applicable part of the plugin. Shouldn't
each user here be able to be offered the ability to connect to the
device it resides on?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-11-19 Thread RHD

Hi All.
We are having a heck of a time with the LMS and Spotty.
-We are running a RP3 with MAx2Play and LMS installed.
-We have Spotty for Spotify installed and running
-We have a Family plan from Spotify with 3 users
-We have registered the Max2Play device with Spotify
-The 3 accounts show under Spotty Spotify for Squeezebox, two with their
user names and one which is the primary Spotify account shows as a
number
-We have tried both single account and multiple account menu options in
the plug-in

We have multiple IOs and MacOs devices with the Spotify App installed on
each, User A, B and C are logged in to their respective Spotify apps.

Here is the problem...
The MAx2Play LMS will not show under devices of the various App users
other than the primary user A. User A on Device A works perfectly. If I
delete or reboot the RP3 and keep User A off and then log into User A on
Device B we again see the RP3 LMS. Thus showing that this is NOT a
hardware issue. We have had many tests of many devices and users in the
end what seems to be the result is that the plugin once a connection has
been established from a device fails to broadcast or announce or
advertiser the Spotify server. This of course is not the intended
design. We have tried different wifi bands 2.4 vs 5 vs Google pucks. We
have also tried iPeng to LMS from these devices which does work as
intended.

Sorry for being such a long post but I wanted to get it all out tere as
best possible.

We are out of ideas...does anyone have any ideas on what to try next to
get the App to see the Spotify device/Server?

Regards,
RHD

Well I am a bit confused, but why not try this:

You have MoOde installed on the raspberry pi.

Mr Curtis says that the Squeezelite renderer hogs the pi bandwidth.

So disable that and enable the UPnPlay renderer (I think that is the
one, I might have the name a little wrong)).

On the computer that has the LMS running, load and enable Philippe's
UPnplay plugin.

Then, on your phone, use an app to control the LMS and the raspberry pi
running Moode will show as a UPnplay device.

You should be able to play Spotty through the pi (and it might show as a
Spotify-Connect device if you can enable it in the Player Settings. This
last bit is just a guess)

If you mean you want to playback through your Phone, then either the
UPnplay or Dnla (whatever it's called) plugin should let LMS see your
phone as an end device (I'm guessing again). Or the Airplay plugin if an
iPhone.

I think this is a bit doubtful?

Which MoOde OS are you using and do you have the Squeezelite Renderer
thing in Moode enabled?

This would let you use the MoOde device as a player from a running LMS
instance ( controller app on the phone).

I used to use MoOde on a rpi3b with a Spotify-Connect install from here

https://github.com/dtcooper/raspotify

that used to work but I'm not so sure about now.

But I could only use one Spotify-Connect device at a time (i.e.
Desktop, Laptop or Tablet, so that's only three  )

I posted a thread about this, but the issue is now different (because I
was doing something dumb :/). Anyway, no songs will play in Spotty. When
I select a playlist, it just brings the song up and after a few seconds
skips to the next. No sound whatsoever. I enabled some extra logging and
I think it's related to this error that comes up when I try to play a
song:

Slim::Player::TranscodingHelper::getConvertCommand2 (443) Error: Didn't

I've Googled and seen other people seeing similar errors, but for file
types I recognize, like m3u and mp3. Any idea what could be missing?

Telnet?... sounds scary. I only had a quick look at that code. So this
is not 100% certain. But I think he's using the current_title query
(didn't even know this existed...) plus a bunch others to get current
status. IIRC current_title is supposed to return the title information
on an internet radio stream (or something similar if playing other
content). The plugin should be using the status query, which would
return track, artist, and album information (if available)
independently. It's more work parsing the results, but more accurate.

But i'm not complete sure if its not still a bug of Spotty, because in

Hi,

recognized that in that io-Broker Squeezbox-Adapter the "current-title"

Spotty songs. If i play my own mp3 its complete normally working, with a
"current-title" and a "current-artist" only displaying the right thing.

To make it clearer it i play my music i get:
currentArtist: Arcade Fire
currentTitle: The Suburbs

in spotty i get:
currentArtist: Aracade Fire
currentTitle: The Suburbs von Arcade Fire aus The Suburbs

In the Squeezebox's radio and touch interface the title are
correctly...
What can i do?

Don't know if this has been brought up in this lengthy thread, but.I
have numerous playlists made up of both Spotify and my own tracks. As
we all know, albums and tracks can sometimes disappear without notice
from Spotify. I find that when I'm playing a playlist that arrives at a
track that is unavailable from Spotify, rather than just skip over that
unavailable track, the playlist stops and I have to manually use the ">>

something that can be fixed so that it just skips the unavailable track
and proceeds to the next one without manual intervention, or is it
something peculiar to my set up (using Squeezelite as player on

compered to the ReadyNas, it plays FLAC 24/196 files effortlessly which
the Nas couldn't do, LMS restarts are only a few seconds, etc. etc. and
you can still use the ReadyNas as a media library by pointing LMS on the
Pi to the library on the Nas. I have moved on from the Nas altogether
recently and am using a hard drive plugged directly into the Pi - the
hard drive turns on & off with the Pi, and spins down when not playing
music, and it comes alive when required without issue. My ultimate will
be to plug high capacity USB sticks into up to 4 of the inbuilt USP
ports of the Pi and keep my library on those, just waiting for the
prices to drop a bit.

Cheers, David

Yes WinSCP was what I had in mind when I wrote"something similar",
picked that up when reading post#708(that is also everything I know
about WinSCP).

Care to fill me in on some of the "number of reasons" to why you decided
to turn away from running things solely on the ReadyNAS...
I find that Life is so much easier if you learn from other peoples

I found the free program WinSCP easier to use than Putty on my Windows
10 machine, both for the ReadyNAS duo 2 that I was using, and the
Raspberry Pi 3 that I am now using after giving up on the ReadyNAS for
many reasons. :)

By the way, it took me a while to work out what logging in as root
meant... username = root

Soo, google is my friend.

I now know (I think) how to log on as root, there are a couple of
verification methods but I´m going to need Putty or something similar to
logon, there is no direct root logon possibility in the ReadyNAS
software as I understand it.

As per theese instructions from netgear:

that was quick, thanks!

Well see, login as root is where I´m lost to begin with. How do i do
that...
I´m aware of the Raspberry solution and if all else fails thats what I´m
going to do, but I´m a little stubborn so I really would like to try
everything to get it running on the NAS only first.

Also just to make things even more amusing for me I can no longer acess
the settings in the NAS, this is done by login in as local admin on the
nas (just HTTPS and then the IP) but I have emailed Netgear support so
lets hope for the best.

Some info valuable for future searches that might find this thread;
Spotty version I´m running is 1.9.6 and the LMS 7.9.1 is 1510044676

This really is a question for the ReadyNAS community.

There's a link to instructions in the PS to the announcement
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107615-Announce-Spotty-v1-1-0=889635#post889635).
These instruction still require "putty" (a software to connect to the
NAS - http://www.putty.org). But it's not that hard to do. Sometimes
this kind of stuff sounds scarier than it is...

I really think that the ReadyNAS community (or Netgear!) should make
that easier, as https is becoming the norm nowadays.

Or you go the Pi way, install piCorePlayer, configure LMS on it, and use
the NAS as a pure storage. Doesn't require putty, but additional hardware.

Alright, computers is not what i normally play with and LINUX is greek

Anyhow have been contemplating ways to get my SQ Touch to Play Spottify

I got a second hand Netgear ReadyNAS102 and installed one WD red 4Tb

Managed to Get the standard LMS uninstalled and the "nightly 7.9.1
installed together with the 1.0.9 poussion thingy.
And installed spotty so far so god, managed to get spotty to show up in
the squeezebox touch but when i try to start it i get the "Pearl SSL"

Ready NAS has 6.9.0 Firmware, And is connected with Cable to a Win 10
Machine, SQ touch is on Wifi.

What to do next? Going to need NOOB instructions, has been reading alot
and things like "putty" and stuff is mentioned, I have no clue what that
is.

Thanks in advance.

You mentioned earlier that it did work for a while, then suddenly
stopped doing so? Did you change password? Some characters are known to
cause problems in passwords (special characters like the $ sign). Did
you try to re-install the VC libraries?

I can confirm this annoying behavior. It occurs very unpredictable and I
have no clue what initiates the action to skip to the next track. I have
closed the Spotify Apps on the smartphones to exclude that influence.
However it also happens when no-one at home is touching anything. Hope
we can find the root cause before this drives me mad

I know this does not help in the first place, but at least I wanted to

Thanks for the reply. I have to go back and find the source for the

question I had?

BTW - is there a reason this will not work in the WHS v1 environment?

Sorry, but having trouble telling Norton to allow the program. Would
appreciate help on how you did this.

I had the same experience. I told Norton to allow the program and
reinstalled the plugin. It's working fine, but I'd love to hear that I
didn't allow malware onto my machine. I'm guessing that the Spotify

Most likely this is a false positive. It happens every now and then :-(.

Posting a link to that thread would have been more helpful... because
from the screenshot it's not clear what the initial problem was. Whether
it is related to yours or not, we can't tell.

FWIW: I have no clue why your plugin installation got in the state you
saw. I would have said this was the first time I saw this. But maybe all
those 7 years ago, when above posting was done, it happened already.

From your log file it was clear that LMS knew it had to remove the
plugin (check the last line). Why it didn't, I don't know.

Spotty problem also on SB touch. Running fine, but today get this
message on plugin setting page

There has been a problem running the Spotty helper application. Please
make sure you have the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime (32-bit!) installed
on your system.

I uninstalled and reinstalled LMS. Now have 1.9.5 plugin, but same
problem.

Checked on Windows updates, found these for 10/26/2017

Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1
Redistributable Package (KB2538243)

Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package
(KB2467173)

Could these updates have created my problem?

Unfortunately you're right. Spotty would not run on WHS 1.x.

You should be able to uninstall it form LMS' Settins/Plugins page (where

Is there any way to remove selected ones or all of them?

The list's size is limited to 50 items. It shouldn't outgrow that
number. And no, there's no official way to change this or clean up the
list. You'd have to shut down LMS, then manually edit the spotty.prefs
file...

Has anyone tried installing spotty on the new Synology DS418j?

I don't think I've had any feedback for this platform. Neither positive
nor negative.

Has anyone tried installing spotty on the new Synology DS418j?

It has an ARM 64bit CPU (Realtek RTD1293), but I can’t figure out if
it’s spotty / arm7 compatible

I’ll only buy it, if it can run spotty :)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-10-17 Thread gadgetguy007

I have Western Digital's My Cloud NAS and am trying to get Spotify
working again through my Squeezebox. Do you know if Spotty will work
with My Cloud as the NAS? I keep getting the message: "Spotty requires
the Perl module IO:Socket:SSL"

Is there a way to install this module on My Cloud? Is my only option to
use my Mac as another Squeezebox server and install the Spotty plug in
on that version of Squeeze center?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.1.0

2017-10-16 Thread derekkao

Hi Michael,

I am using LMS 7.7.3 running on Synology 214 (DSM 5.0) connecting to
Transporter and Touch in my house. I have enabled the Spotty plug-in in
LMS, and entered the user name/password of Spotify Premium account at
LMS/Settings/Advance/Spotty Spotify for Squeezebox. Then I use iPeng and
also Squeezebox apps on iPhone to access the Transporter and Touch. I
can play the music stored in Synology successfully, but when I launch
the Spotty app within iPeng/Squeezebox app, I don't see my Spotify
playlists nor any album/artists that I've saved via native Spotify App
of iPhone.

What am I missing?

Moreover, would I be able to see any Spotty device via native Spotify
App of iPhone?

Thanks for the advice.

Derek

Well - if I open the old version of the playlist, the new playlist
metadata will display correctly. BUT: opening the item and playing it
still shows the old URL in the tag-info. As soon as the spotifamily
plugin is removed, these items do then no longer stream.

You could try editing the file at Slimserver\prefs\plugin\spotty.prefs

NB
I don't use Spotify anymore, so I have uninstalled it, I cannot try this
suggestion, these are just leftover files in my LMS cache from the
uninstall.

Good luck :)
