In the skill manifest, I use "isAvailableWorldwide": true and "distributionCountries": []. That should mean *I'm* not restricting anything and it's all down to Amazon. They state the following: 37008 Notice "A skill must have a German version to be available to customers who registered their devices with the .de site". There is no German language version of MediaServer. But what you have discovered should mean that a physical location in Germany will still allow accessing the skill (and subscribing) -provided -that the device is registered with the .com marketplace and a (notional) US street address. The support agent said I could just enter a random address, but I used one where I did indeed live for some time. The confusing thing is that it's not just about which amazon domain (they call it "marketplace") you use, but that the address has to match the marketplace. Based on that, I would assume (just a hypothetical example), that if you're on amazon.com with a british address, it won't work, even though the app is available in both countries. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LMS-lite certified Smart Home skill for Alexa
Okay, I just had a longish chat with the amazon.com support and learned that the country that Alexa checks (and that she refers to when she says that something is not available in your country) is the country set under Content and Devices. As soon as I changed it to a US address, it worked. According to the very helpful agent, in some skills the important thing is that that address matches the marketplace that you are on (in my case: amazon.com). Before, that address was set to Germany and it didn't matter (I was able to get and use all the english apps I wanted. It was only the subscription that required the US address. Now the next step will be to figure out how to get Alexa to play music from my LMS. There are no subscribers in Germany that I know of. It's just not possible unless the skill is 100% German. Amazon assumes everybody living in Germany speaks German and wants it this way. They don't cater to expats or non-patriots I guess. Even with a developer account, I cannot test in-skill purchases by voice and have to do it by typing the text into a simulator portal. So are you saying that if you only had amazon.de and amazon.nl accounts, you would not be able to subscribe to your skill (because the MediaServer skill is available in neither Dutch nor German)? There might indeed be a similar scenario with amazon.se and amazon.de (my case). But it doesn't quite make sense, though. Because I basically had the same problem when I wasn't able to get Alexa to speak English (or get English-only apps) and that was solved by switching my digital content amazon.com and it has worked ever since. So, for example, when I buy an Echo device on Amazon.de, it gets automatically linked to my amazon.de account, but in order to "manage", I have to go to amazon.com and sign in there. When I now log into amazon.com, I am told that I now also have the choice to manage may devices and digital content on amazon.de: 36999 I'm not sure, but I don't believe that option was there when I made the switch to amazon.com a year or two ago. So my guess is that they are now allowing me to move my stuff back because they are now also allowing people to purchase english language content directly on amazon.de. But then again it also says under "Apps & Games" that while existing subscriptions will continue, the availability of new subscriptions is not guaranteed. Either way, nothing really indicates my being on amazon.com explains the rejection of the subscription. I will try to see if changing my country in digital contents changes anything (if I even can easily change it). Don't you have any subscribers from Germany? As a skill-developer/seller, do you have some support at amazon that you can ask what either your customers or you can do, to make the subscription available in non-english speaking countries like, well, most European countries? +---+ |Filename: 2022-01-23_21-36-07.png | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36999| +---+ *Server*: LMS 8.1.1 on an Ubuntu 18.04 virtual machine *Players*: Radio, Touch, Duet (Receiver & Controller), 2 Booms *Remote control apps*: Material Skin (Web UI), but also SqueezePad (iOS), Squeezecontroller (Android) *Important plugins*: Trackstat, Spicefly Sugarcube, Lazy Search Music, Custom Browse, Multi Library chaug's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=47641 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yes, it is (unfortunately) very unclear. Amazon confuses the concepts of nationality, preferred language, physical location, and location of any Amazon store(s) bought from. I live in NL and Amazon used to be ok with my getting skills in the .co.uk store when there was no Amazon.nl site and we were 'expected' to shop on Amazon.de. Ironically, after they created Amazon.nl, they expect our skills to come from Amazon.de and no longer from .co.uk. Might be the same for you (.de expected). However, to be in the .de store, a skill -must -be available in the German language which MediaServer is not. Unfortunately that doesn't explain why Alexa won't let me subscribe because my location under digital content is Germany: 36997 It's not as simple as that though. Because I manage my digital content on amazon.com (even though the actual amazon account is on amazon.de). If I remember correctly that was the only way to get Alexa to speak English. I remember it said something that customers on certain amazon country stores are allowed to move their digital content to amazon.com, or something, and Germany being one of them. So I followed the instructions and voilá, Alexa finally spoke english. We can choose British or American English and we can even choose English -and- German. But I don't think language has anything to do with it. Well, and digital content location doesn't seem to matter either, since I assume that the the subscription works both in the USA and Germany, right? So it must be my physical location (which is Sweden). But it would have to take that either from my current delivery address (not for digital but for physical items) or from my IP-address. Do you have any other suggestions? (I find this really hard to trouble shoot because Amazon is so unclear about which location it uses/assumes in various situations) P.S. There is no Swedish for Alexa so shes fine with UK English for Sweden (in the EU, the UK store is default for all unsupported languages. Amazon never thought Brexit would actually happen). It should just work. Or has Amazon decided to link the Swedish store to Germany? Anyway, a workaround is to temporarily set your Amazon store account for digital content to .co.ik for locale en-GB. I have successfully installed the free version of Mediaserver, yay! But when I say "Alexa, tell mediaserver I want a subscription" she says something like "the content is not available in your country".Why would the subscription not be available in Sweden? Where do I set "my country"? Amazon has so many different location settings, it's utterly confusing. I don't even know which country Alexa/Amazon thinks I'm in... It looks like Amazon has finally made the PlaybackController interface available for it-IT. This means that LMS-lite can be made available in *Italian *if the description text for the Amazon skill-store/app is translated. It's quite a short description: see https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083H9JTJY/. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LMS-lite certified Smart Home skill for Alexa
There's a new sorting rule for favorites in order to match the new behaviour in MediaServer. Nested folders are exhaustively recursed before popping back up a level to the next item there. This provides consistency up to 1000 items per nested folder and makes the numbering 100% predictable. When counting favorites manually, as soon as you see a folder, go into it and keep counting everything there (and below!) before moving back upwards in the hierarchy. This means that it is possible to ask to play a favorite that is actually a folder rather than audio. If you do that, LMS will just play the first playable item in that folder instead. philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

This cannot work with LMS-lite because that skill does not result in any audio emanating from an Echo it controls Squeezeboxes rather than Echos. MediaServer, on the other hand, does stream audio from LMS to an Echo as audio-sink. I tried the new command but it did not work for me. That may be due to the fact that my account is with amazon.nl and not .com or .co.uk. philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LMS-lite certified Smart Home skill for Alexa
As recently mentioned in the MediaServer forum thread, while examining the LMS source code around favorites-handling, I discovered an undocumented legacy feature which allows the entire favorites hierarchy to be retrieved with a single API call. This means that there is no more recursion needed to fetch all your favorites, implying that timeouts should no longer happen on favorites commands :D I've now implemented this feature in LMS-lite. Because Python (LMS-lite) sorts differently to nodejs (MediaServer), the numbering scheme will be a bit different between the two skills but it will be consistent. It may also be different from what you were used to so if you have Alexa routines setting favorites you may need to change the number you used there. Note also that the changes mean that your 'on mysqueezebox.com' folder is _not_ queried for content. That's a small price to pay for the fact that huge favorites collections -will - play when you keep the favorites locally on LMS instead of on mysb.com. As a reminder, you can only play favorites by specifying an *integer* number that you determine by counting what you see when looking at your favorites in the default skin (Material sorts differently!). You cannot use names or dot-notation here due to the limitations of Smart Home skills use MediaServer if you want that luxury. Also, you -don't- mention 'Play' in the command it's just: 'Alexa, Favorite 16 on Kitchen Boom'. Enjoy! philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Yes, I'm sure that the account is not used by anybody else. It also only happens with LMS-lite skill and always just after I asked Alexa to perfom some action with a player. Then a notification in the Alexa app pops up and says that the skill has been un-linked. I have five players in total and none of them changed it's MAC adress in the last few months. There are always some of the players labelled as "not responding" but not always the same players. It switches after a few minutes. When asking Alexa to power on a player she also often answeres that the action didn't work and that I should disable and re-enable the skill in the app. However, when asking to power on the player a few more times it usually works. Also device discovery doesn't change anything. Tried that several times. There's no way skills should disable themselves and they stay enabled for years even when not actively used. I had the same problem, on the advice of a friend, I just installed an additional sensor, and then synchronized it through Alex, and everything worked. As a result, I got a completely 'connected home' (https://h2smarthome.com/). This approach has one big plus, since you will order additional sensors in any case, you can immediately order several innovative sensors, for example, a climate control sensor. Perhaps related to the Akamai issue that took out half the web yesterday for a while (including Amazon.com) I found that LMS-lite had somehow unlinked itself without my intervention. I could re-link it no problem via the web-portal/app. Just so you know if it unlinked for you, it's not a problem on my end. philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] LMS-lite certified Smart Home skill for Alexa
The way *favorites* are handled by LMS-lite has been changed. Under the hood, if you asked for Favorite 'N', it used to call ["favorites","playlist","play","item_id:'+str(int(N) - 1)+'"] which is fast but does not traverse nested favorites. On Squeezeboxes with a display, it also led to a heart symbol on the screen instead of the now-playing screen. It now works the same way as favorites in MediaServer, meaning it parses the hierarchy in multiple API calls to retrieve all your favorites. Flattening to a numerical index should be the same as it is in MediaServer. In case this to-and-fro'ing to the API causes a timeout with your slow internet, you can still use the old method by asking for 'preset' instead of 'favorite'. With favorite, you now also get now-playing as under the hood it uses ["favorites","playlist","play","menu:favorites","isContextMenu:1","item_id:'+str(id)+'"] If you ask for a numerical favorite that is out of range, Alexa will now tell you rather than just saying 'OK' as she used to. Enjoy! philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Should be easy-peasy. However, one of the key Amazon code-library items needed by the skill (Alexa.PlaybackController) is not available in Italian, so it's simply not possible. Amazon does not publish roadmaps so I have no idea when it will be available (I do monitor availability from time to time). https://developer.amazon.com/en-US/docs/alexa/device-apis/list-of-interfaces.html philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

@Didjean, can you PM me with the name and MAC address of one of the players that is not responding after you have made a few attempts so the logs can reveal something ? philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=111443 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Regarding the Play command in French, the command is "Alexa, mets lecture sur l'appareil" or " Alexa, Remets lecture sur l'appareil".
