Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!

2018-04-02 Thread large

Hi Michael,
I have used Spotty for a long time, and it works great in the periods
when there are no updates.

But when an update is present Spotty seems to crash (usually the LMS is
also in new version also at the same time).
All of the "connect to the device" is empty and I have to upgrade LMS
first, then restart the LMS a second time for upgrading Spotty.

Are there any watchdogs for Ubuntu or any tips regarding such issue?
I can provide a debuglog if you need, but please instruct where to find
it :)

Regards. Large

First of all: I don't know. Really. As I don't have a system as old as
this, I can't verify. I know that there have been issues in the past,
but these actually might be gone with the latest build (2.1.10). Did you
give it a try?

Second: please post in the 2.0 thread. That's where the current
development happens.

And third: I'd recommend you update to LMS 7.9.1. At least if you get
Spotty working at all, and want to take full advantage of it.

I guess you don't have Connect mode enabled for your devices? Check
Settings/Advanced/Spotty. You have to enable it for every SB you want to
see from the Spotify app.

play my playlists in reverse? I like to play the recent additions first.
The Spotify app on iphone has a setting.

If you enable it in the app, wouldn't it play that way in Connect mode?
I wouldn't know of any way in LMS mode (unless, of course, I implement

And the rest of this post: I got my Squeezebox a few months ago. That
led to a hifiberry running max2play. I use a desktop to host my LMS and
I use the web interface and iPeng to control the players. I had read
some of these posts and tried to understand how to get Spotty running
with my setup. But today was the first time that I actually looked into
the interface and tried to check the right boxes. I was shocked when it
took only a few minutes. I see people selling their squeezeboxes on ebay
and craiglist because of no spotify support. Hah.

Thank you!

gives? Are you using any special characters in the password?

...hold on... spotty-x86_64 on max2play? What hardware are you running
this on?

After creating the preset (long-holding the preset button), I get the

You installed the additional Spotty for AARCH64 helper plugin. Uninstall

I have the volume set to "Fixed at 100%" in the server. But I can still

Happy to report that there are no more crashes after the plugin updated
itself to 2.1.1. Thanks! :-)
Only issue is that no audio is heard through any players. This happened
before though and a server restart sorted it, so will do some digging
and post any findings in the 2.0 thread.

Hi, all - I don't know if this has been discussed or if anyone else will
find it helpful, but I initially added the test.xml repository and
enabled the Spotty plugin from there, which kept crashing. Then when I
updated the plugin, it still crashed. So to fix, I had to disable Spotty
and manually delete the plugin folder here:
C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins\Plugins, then re-enable
the current plugin, and now everything works fine.

Hope that helps someone.

2018-01-23 Thread mr-b

Hi

Just realised that the spotty.exe process keeps crashing on Win10. A cmd
window keeps popping up and LMS seems to not respond for a while. It was
all working fine before, but I did upgrade LMS to the latest nightly
recently - not sure if that is related (LMS 7.9.1 - 1516197805).

I saw some other folks had the same issue a while back but it seeemed
that maybe some fixes had been added but a brief search didn't show any
recent posts.
The SB players show up in Spotify OK. The plugin is v2.1.0.

Server.log has lots of these:

[18-01-23 22:06:20.3583] Plugins::Spotty::API::getToken (138) Failed to
get Spotify access token
[18-01-23 22:08:39.5110] Plugins::Spotty::API::getToken (121) Failed to

note: Run with `RUST_BACKTRACE=1` for a backtrace.

I looked in C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\spotty\ for the
credentials.json file and it's being updated regularly but haven't yet
tried deleting anything as I thought I'd wait for guidance first, just
in case the data there might help. ;-)

SqueezeBox touch LMS says "1411kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted

(iPeng Squeeze player, not Spotify native) LMS says "320kbps CBR, Ogg
Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to MP3)! I have my Spotty audio quality set
to "Extreme". I would like to get the best quality I can via the Touch,
but I think something is getting overloaded.

Go to Settings/Advanced/File Formats and disable Spotty -> PCM
transcoding. This should then transcode the stream to FLAC, which
requires less bandwidth - at the cost of more CPU on the server. But
please give it a try.

Hi - I would appreciate any help with the following. Running LMS 7.9.1
on PCP on Raspberry Pi (2)
I switched from my Son's Spotify account to my own new Premium account,
switched the account in LMS Plugins - and started to listen. My SB
Touch would only play a few seconds before dropping out, resuming, going
back to start and generally misbehaving. BUT after some investigation I
found that the same Spotify track would play perfectly on my iPeng
player on my iPhone (same LMS etc). When the track plays badly on the
SqueezeBox touch LMS says "1411kbps CBR, Ogg Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted
to PCM)" but when the same track plays perfectly on the iPhone player
(iPeng Squeeze player, not Spotify native) LMS says "320kbps CBR, Ogg
Vorbis (Spotify) (Converted to MP3)! I have my Spotty audio quality set
to "Extreme". I would like to get the best quality I can via the Touch,
but I think something is getting overloaded. (It's wired ethernet
connection via mains PowerPacket). Is anyone able to advise what
settings to change to get listenable playback on my Touch?

Oh, I guess this behavior is related to the "give access to all family
members" question: the plugin currently does not expose Spotty in the
LAN, but only through the API, which is limited to one user. And the
"show only local devices" options likely does ignore the API, but uses
local discovery only. I should target this for 2.1.

doesn't become available anymore in the spotify phone app. Am I the only
one experiencing this problem?

Need more information: what platform (CPU, OS)? Anything in server.log?

Hello.

Tonight there was an accidental party.
I started by selecting bedroom device and started playing with spotify
connect. As i could not hear the song i was playing i pressed +vol on
the phone which had already full volume.
This resulted in half family waking up and me the most popular member of
the family.

Is it possible to get and sync the volume from the selected device?

As you are using Synology DS: Here is how you can install 7.9 instead of
the older versions Synology ships by default.

- Navigate to Package Center
- Choose Settings, Beta, Yes I want to see beta versions
- Then You should be able to upgrade LMS to 7.9

Don't forget to switch you Squeezeboxes off and on again after the
upgrade.

second delays in the music.

What do I do?

Go to Settings/Advanced/Logging and set plugin.spotty to INFO. Play with
it as usual, then upload your server.log once you've encountered issues
(do not restart LMS in between).

Is the 7.9 beta not available for this device?

Feedback to Spotty 1.99.5 and Spotify Connect.

Spotify accounts become somehow screwed up:

I'm working on that. But highest priority has the issue with the dying

That actually might be the result of those Connect daemons disappearing.

Feedback to Spotty 1.99.5 and Spotify Connect.

Spotify accounts become somehow screwed up:

- Often Squeezeboxes are not advertised in the Spotify app using
account B although the Radios have been switched from account A to
  account B.
- When switching a Radio from Account B to account A for some time it
might be visible in Spotify App A and in Spotify App B. In such states
pressing Play in App B leads to start and stop of songs from account
  A. Pressing Play in App A only plays for 2 seconds and then music is
stopped again. To overcome reboot of LMS seems only possibility.
- When a song is played from the Spotify app immediately after the app
was switched to a Squeezebox Radio the song stops after 2 seconds.
Skipping to the next song is required to escape this auto-stop state.

It would be cool if all Squeezeboxes are advertised to all Spotify apps
and pressing Play in tha app enforces a switch of the Squeezebox Radio
to the according account.

An issue that I've notice we both have in our plugins Spotty and
YouTube: when you do a search, if you play the 1st track and while it's
playing try to play 'all tracks' nothing happens. It's not the case if
you play any other track. I assume it's due to the way we create the
'all tracks' entry. We add that at the beginning of the item list
returned by the search, but now we have a key {total} of N and N+1 items
in the list. Maybe it's because of that or maybe it's because the 'all
tracks' also starts with the track that is playing, I don't know. A
minor thing I think but after a quick look I did not find a solution

At the moment I'm using just 1 account, as a proof of concept. I
currently have a family Tidal account, but apart from the sound quality
when streaming at home, I'm not all that happy with it. There was
aSpotify promotion, 0,99€/month for 3 months, that I've taken advantage
off to try this as well as see hif it's more "intelligent" than Tidal in
proposing me stuff tailored to my tastes. So far it's been quite good,
getting this to work would be the final straw for ditching Tidal in
favour of Spotify :)

I was under the impression that this would e.g. enable my daughter to
choose the bathroom player for playing her songs from spotify while
showering, straight from her phone. Is this what it's supposed to do or
am I mistaken?

If you are using different accounts, then you'll have to select your
account on the Radio before you can see it in your Spotify app.

2018-01-10 Thread bakker_be

I'm quite new to this whole Spotify thing, so maybe I'm not doing it
right, but somehow I can't choose which device to play on from my
Android phone, only from the app running on my windows PC ... Behaviour
descriptions:

- Windows app active, Android app in the background: Android
unavailable for listening to, Windows + SqueezeLite instances
available in Windows app, nothing at all visible in the Android app
- Windows app active, Android app in the foreground: Android, Windows
+ SqueezeLite instances available in Windows app, nothing at all
  visible in the Android app
- Windows app playing to itself, Android or a Squeeze instance,
Android app in the foreground: Android, Windows + SqueezeLite
instances available in Windows app, playing remote instance + local
  Android instance visible.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!

2018-01-10 Thread Michael Herger

For Example I had a bug in the previous version with spotify connect I
would like to know if it's resolved (the music start on the squeezebox
when I start to listen Spotify on my iphone...) . Sometimes I'm in my
car and the music start in my house even if the spotify connect
destination is really on my iphone :D

That's not a bug, but a feature: playback starts on whatever device
you've chosen to play on. If you want to play on your phone, make sure
you select your phone as the target in the Spotify app.

(after all that's what Spotify Connect is about: control any Spotify
endpoint from your Spotify app)

Hi, how to know what's new in each Spotty version ? Is there a version
history somewhere ?

(I tried quickly this morning it seems to be resolved :D )

That's the latest already.

I'm in the process of pushing out another update. Please give it a try.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Spotty v1.9.0 - now with experimental Spotify Connect support!

2018-01-09 Thread Michael Herger

Another issue I have is with stopping or pausing tracks.

Quite often, but not always (I can't detect a pattern yet), a track
stops only briefly when I hit pause, but then continues to play almost
immediately.

This sounds like you were using an old version. I might have asked
before... what plugin version? What spotty helper version (see
Settings/Advanced/Spotty)?

Today I came home to find spotify play the last track of the last
playlist over and over. Don't know when that started, b/c the player was
off when I left in the morning.

I could imagine this happened when the daemon went away.

I'll see whether I can push out my (hopefully) improved watchdog code in
the next few days.
