Cheers for the quick reply. I’m sure I tried that yesterday, today it’s
working perfectly. Typical!

Ah, that was iPeng Classic.

In iPeng 9 there are no drag handles. When you are in "Edit" mode you
can just drag all items of the playlist, just pick them up by
briefly holding, it's that same as with the iOS drag handles but works
on the whole playlist item.

2018-08-19 Thread johnieutah

Hi. I’ve just purchased iPeng 9... actually it was one of the reasons
for buying an iPad. So far I am very impressed, it’s exactly what i
wanted. One question though, i haven’t figured out how to reorder the
now playing playlist. I swipe in from the right, and the songs can then
be individually swiped to delete them or show more info. I can edit the
playlist but there still seems to be no option to shift songs up/down. I
looked up the support page and it mentioned grab handles that should be
shown. I don’t see these on my iPad.

Thanks!

Search for JSON/RPC on this forum to learn how to use the CLI over http.
The CLI documentation is then in the help section on LMS

Think i'm in way over my head. Never used JSON/RPC before. I've had
success using the below but I don't see anything about sync

All commands are documented in your LMS:
http://localhost:9000/html/docs/cli-api.html

But I'd suggest you move this to its own thread.

Do you have an example of an http command that would work to sync 2
players? I found this as an example but it doesn't seem to work from
here
https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?105296-Controlling-Player-Sync

I substituted jukebox for the LMS server and instead of IP addresses I
used the MAC's.

Ok. I'm trying to use ha-bridge so I can use Alexa to easily switch

For two players it’s really just syncing the two and then unsyncing the

I assume that what you do know dor transfer is that you sync the target
player to the existing syncgroup and then remove the source player(s).

I can confirm that my Walk With Me plugin does this - and that it's
failing with Groups. And iPeng AFAIK does the same. Alas, I'm not sure
iPeng is using my plugin (it does for the Apple Watch version).

What _I_ could do in the plugin, is set the source property of the sync
request to something you could filter on (I usually set it to the
plugin's module name). When you catch the sync request, you could then
check something like:

if ($request->source eq 'Plugins::WalkWithMe::Plugin") { doStuff; }

Setting the source is only possible from within LMS/plugin code, but not
from the caller. Therefore pippin cannot use this approach. It _might_
potentially be possible to set a tag on the sync call, as it does accept
those. But I'd have to test this first, as it would go beyond what is
documented behaviour of the sync command (eg. "sync 00:04...
movePlaylist:1").

We should probably take this discussion to its own thread.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2018-07-26 Thread philippe_44

Hi Pippin - Do you think there could be a possibility that iPeng could
indicate to Group Players when it tries to do a playlist handover from a
player to a Group? Currently, it does not work (nor does various plugin
that do the same) because it's critical for Group players that the
"virtual" player is the master of the sync, so I refuse any "manual"
sync request. Should I know that the request is for a playlist transfer,
I could accept and we could find a way to have the master be the virtual
player.

I assume that what you do know dor transfer is that you sync the target
player to the existing syncgroup and then remove the source player(s).
All I'd need is an indicator that the sync request comes from iPeng for
that purpose, I would accept the request and make the "virtual" player
the master of that sync group. Doing that as a general mechanism is not
feasible, last time I thought about it

I've been using iPeng for a while now and love it, I have a few licenses
scattered across multiple devices.

One quirk I haven't been able to resolve though is that when I open
iPeng on a device, if there is any local playback on the device (ie a
podcast playing to headphones or an spotify being streamed to my LMS via
airplay) then it will pause as soon as iPeng opens. This isn't ideal as
I sometimes want to open iPeng to adjust volume in my various zones but,
but if the playback is occuring locally on the same device then it stops
as soon as i open ipeng.

Is this behaviour configurable? I have purchased the optional iOS
endpoint upgrade, but it's disabled on my devices unless I actually need
it.

Many thanks!

Just tested it again (I only have a SB2 connected to LMS since SBR
crapped out) and I cannot reproduce it. So I was having WiFi problems
around that day and maybe that caused iPeng not to communicate properly
with LMS. Sorry to waste your time.

When setting the playlist to MIX in LMS, this setting cannot be changed

The volume popup shows because iPeng restores the volume your device had
set before you entered iPeng.
There are several ways in which iPeng modifies the volume while you are
in the App. One case, of course, is using the player, , in which case
the server controls the volume.
Another case is using the volume keys although this change is now only
minimal in most cases and only for edge cases.

It indeed looks like iPeng doesn’t restore the 100% volume level but
goes down to 99, in all other cases the volume should now be correct,
though.

If you can browse albums and artists (and drill down to track level) in
iPeng and you see no players then the problem is not between iPeng and
LMS but between LMS and the players. Are they all on the same network as
the server?

I suspect that you are either on a kind of guest network there, which

Can you reach the server's web interface from the iPhone/iPad?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2018-06-12 Thread DougPollock

Hi all

Long time user of Squeeze and iPeng but am stumped. Live in the UK and
recently upgraded TV to Sky Q - this is a new router, a master box with
recording disk and Sky Q minibox ; the minibox is a slave of the Q box
in a different room. The Minibox is also a wi-fi extender. Since
having the boxes my ipeng apps (I have 3 old iphones and one ipad) have
intermittently stopped working...I think when I am on the boosted signal
near the minibox it stops and when I am taking the signal from the main
router it works. All other wifi things work fine

Anyone had similar experiences and know where to go with this?

Thanks
Doug

No, it’s just a passive web link. No cookies or FB code involved.

The idea was that if your friends post music links on Facebook (a lot of
my friends do that and some of them are really great explorers) you can
just tap that and play it on a Squeezebox.

It became more difficult these days due to more JavaScript, my idea
going forward is to have a share sheet so that you can play right from
other apps. That would the also work with apps like Spotify, podcast
apps etc.
When that’s ready, I’m going to remove Facebook from iPeng (except for
the iOS system sharing).
And BTW I did already remove the Twitter feature in this version (which
had a similar intention but involved native code so privacy related
tokens had to be exchanged to use it and I didn’t want to add that to
the privacy policy for an outdated feature nobody uses anyway)

So it doesn't actually do anything unless it's activated? I'm not into

Hm, this should not be needed. I _did_ mean the server cache, you did
not get this wrong.
One reason it might help is if the memory on your iPhone is completely
used up (the disk) because flushing the cache will free up some space
but if this is really the reason I'd expect the issues to come back
because if you free up space used by iPeng some other apps will usually
step in and grab more space instead, especially Photos.

I have now finally sorted this by flushing the iPeng cache
Settings > iPeng Settings > Flush Cache.

Sorry - I know you suggested this initially but I wrongly thought you
meant the cache within LMS itself - not the iPeng iOS app. Doh!

No, I doubt it. I would have got a lot of other reports then and it
works for me, too.
And iPeng didn’t have an update for a while, so it can’t be a change in
the app.

One thing that could be is that there’s a problem loading some of the
artwork thumbs because that would eventually get the whole artwork
loading queue stuck but it needs more than one problematic image for
that and it would continue after a timeout. Although that timeout is a
minute so quite long.

Have you tried to restart your router?

I can get the artwork showing for a bit by deleting the cache,
rescanning and restarting the server. iPeng initially shows all artwork
but then after a while most disappears. All artwork is there and is
shown correctly by both SB players and LMS and there is nothing that I
can see in the LMS logs that indicate a problem.

Could this be an iOS issue? I recently moved to 11.3.1 so maybe it's
this that is not playing nicely with iPeng?

Any help appreciated.

Not 100% sure, please ask in the LMS subforum.
This is not something iPeng can influence, it never sees your files and
tags, it’s the server that manages the library and it needs to support
the tags.

It might be that this is somehow possible in LMS 7.9.1 using additional
browse modes, otherwise you‘d need something like CustomScan.

Nope. Couldn't verify scan time because LMS deleted the older scanner
log entries for some reason (I only deleted artwork* and cache*). But
I confirmed via WUI the CLEAR/RESCAN finished before I checked iPeng an
hour after the finish of the scanning.

Could it be that the server is just pretty slow creating the artwork? If
you cleared all and it needs to be re-generated this might take a
while.
Of course, the pre-caching is supposed to solve that but are you sure
that had completely run through when you first tried? It can take hours
with a "clear" on a slow server.

I don't know specifics for QNap but you can see the cache folder in the
web interface under "Settings->Information". In the cache folder, there
are two files "cache.db" and "artwork.db". Shut down the server and
delete them, then restart the server.

That means the server will create artwork thumbnails for iPeng in the
format shown (300x300 pixels, sized to fit but keeping aspect ratio)
while scanning like it does for the Squeezebox. They are then written to
artwork.db.

Yes, I have the same happening with 7.9.2. I added a couple of new rips
and iPeng doesn’t show the artwork in new music. I did a full rescan
thinking it was an LMS issue and now I have loads not showing.

All appear on SB menus OK so something is not playing nicely with
iPeng.

2018-04-26 Thread Diana

Mmm... There don't appear to be many recent threads on the forum about
MusicIP. There are several mentions of it, with some discussion about
getting it running on various platforms. But there's nothing much about
the software itself.

Most information about it, and about getting it working, is here: <
https://www.spicefly.com/section.php?section=musicip >. As you may see,
it's really legacy server software. The company who owned the internet
server providing the service has long since shut down, but it's possible
to run a local server on the machine that LMS runs on, which is what I
do. I use that to fingerprint the tracks I'm adding to my library, and
LMS uses it to generate MusicIP mixes.

There's information on Spicefly.com about how install MusicIP and
operate it. The guy who runs Spicefly is a member here (
https://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?2083-cparker ); but he hasn't
been active much recently; and I've no idea whether he knows how the
server or plugin software work in detail. I'm not myself a developer (or
even a programmer), so there's not much point in my contacting cparker.
Would you be interested in doing so, to see if he can suggest a fix for
the MusicIP <> iPeng communication problem?

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

First, thanks for the elaborate description, that's helpful, I need to
find a way to test MusicIP myself but I think I have a pretty good idea
what's happening now.

I don't think any of this will help.
>From your description, what happens is that the commands provided by the
MusicIP plugin don't work.

The way these menus work is that the server provides a list of commands
to iPeng which describe what should be done to play/play next/add to end
something, but only if you are in a playlist.
There is one additional command that opens a context menu (long one,
with many options), this is being used when you long-press (in a
playlist) or always (otherwise)
These are the commands iPeng uses when you tap and the fact that this
doesn't work indicates that something is wrong with these commands.

In your case, it looks like the context menu entry is missing
altogether. What iPeng is doing then is that it builds an own context
menu with the "play", "play next" and "add to end" commands.
Of course, these still don't work if the commands provided by the plugin
don't work.

What I would do is, is to try to long-press one of the _other_ items in
the mix. There is a chance that it then has an own "play all" option,
maybe that works.

Otherwise... do we have a MusicIP thread here.

Just to update this. I flushed the cache on the iPhone. It then created
and played a MusicIP mix. But only once. I couldn't get it to do it
again. Flushing the cache on the iPad had no effect.

So I deleted the app from both devices and reinstalled. Still not
working. :(

Do you have any other thoughts?

First, I forgot to say that I upgraded the iPhone and iPad Mini to iOS
11.3.1 yesterday morning.

Next, I should describe how, if I recall correctly, creating MusicIP
mixes used to work in iPeng (on either iPhone or iPad): I'd navigate to
a track in the Music Folder (Artist>Album>Track), and press and hold the
track. This opened the long menu of options for the track, and at the
bottom of that was 'Create MusicIP Mix'. Tap that, and the mix was
created and dispalyed, with 'Play this mix' at the top. I think in the
past that tapping 'Play this mix' caused the play to start. Or you could
press & hold it, to reveal a set of 'Play this mix' options: Add to end
/ Play / Play Next.

This is, of course, all analogous to what I see on the LMS webGUI, and
on the menus of the SB Classics, where creating MusicIP mixes is still
working as it should.

But now, in iPeng on the iPhone and iPad, the process seems to be
broken. Everything works to the point where the mix is created, with the
'Play this mix' button at the top. But in iPeng on the iPhone, sometimes
nothing happens if you tap 'Play this mix' nor if you press and hold it.
But occasionally a single tap immediately displays the options submenu
(Add to end / Play / Play Next); however none of them seem to do
anything.

In iPeng on the iPad, after creating a mix, tapping the 'Play this mix'
button at the top displays the options submenu 'Add to end / Play / Play
Next'. (Press and hold does nothing). Curiously, when you select any of
the options to Add to end / Play / Play Next, nothing usually happens;
but on very rare occassions, 'Add to end' actually does add the mix to
the current play list, and it can then be played.

In other words, the webGUI and the SB Classic interfaces work fine (and
so does SqueezePlay on my Mac); but iPeng is not working, but in ways
that are not exactly the same on iPhone and iPad. (There seems to be
some instability, so that the behaviour of iPeng may differ from
occassion to occasion.)

Is there any point in doing a 'Flush Cache' in iPeng on both iDevices?
Or might it be better to delete the app completely from the devices, and
reinstall? I can't think of anything else I can try at my end.

But you may have some ideas?

Thanks for your help and advice.

Ah, a Classic. Hm, no, that setting is only available for Touch and
Radio and probably Squeezeplay/Squeezelight.

What happens if you "hold" "Play this mix" instead of tapping it?
Can you list the mix and maybe try to play it by tapping one of the
tracks?

I can't find anything called "defeat destruction touch-to-play" in the
LMS settings for my SB Classic players, or in the Player Settings in
iPeng. I'd be grateful if you could give me a bit more detail about
where to find what you're referring to.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2018-04-25 Thread pippin

I actually don’t know.
This isn’t something iPeng does, the menu and these actions are created
by the server and the MusicIP plugin, maybe it has something to do with
the s server update, I don’t use the plugin myself so I can’t really
test it.

But it’s not an iPeng function by itself so I don’t think there’s
anything we can do on that side.

One thing I’d look at are the settings for „defeat destruction
touch-to-play“ in the player settings. These have caused issues with
other plugins as well, maybe it helps to try a different setting there

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread

2018-04-25 Thread Diana

Hi

I'm using iPeng 9.4.1 (iOS), with LMS 7.9.1 running on Debian Wheezy. I
use MusicIP to create mixes. Unfortunately, although iPeng appears to
creat a mix, and lists the tracks, when I then press 'Play this mix',
and select any of the three actions listed, iPeng does not add the
tracks to the current playlist.

I haven't used MusicIP for a couple of months, but I used to use iPeng
to create and play mixes without difficultly. Though iPeng appears no
longer to do this correctly, I can still create, 'add to end' and play
MusicIP mixes from the LMS webUI.

I recently updated LMS to 7.9.1 shortly after the update was released.

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Yes, that’s a known issue since iOS 11.3
Will get fixed in the next update

Just found out the cause of my iPhone volume going to lowest volume:
iPeng. If I swipe iPeng closed, the volume gets set to lowest level.
If I leave it running, no volume problems.

On iPhone in list mode, if you tap the cover art iPeng will immediately
play the album

Thanks for the heads-up. Some ALAC files play, and some do not, so it
certainly seems like an encoding issue of some kind.

ALAC files play fine on my iPhone with iPeng (latest versions).
Maybe there is something else at play. I've had some issues with ALAC
files and piCorePlayer a while back. Can't remember what the exact
explanation was but it had something to do with the way the ALAC files
were constructed. Simply having the ALAC files recreated by iTunes
(convert to feature in iTunes) solved that.

Hi,

I'm not sure when this problem started, but playing apple lossless files
no longer seems to work for me in iPeng, but flac and mp3 flies play
just fine.

I'm running the latest iOS, iPeng, and the latest nightly LMS is running
on a Mac running macOS 10.13.4.

Apple lossless files play fine through localplayer on the Mac itself.

Any ideas?

Which log, lms?
As said, with squeeze cntrl is do have cover art showing while ipeng
only shows the logo of the radio stream. No idea if it is unscaled, how
to see?
Will also try with another radio stream and let you know.

Thanks for reporting. The issue had nothing to do with VoiceOver, BTW,
happened without it as well.
