The definition is done in the file 'js_custom.php' (I should put in the
docs as well...). I hope the explanation in the file is sufficient.

I don't think this problem is specifically related to pmapper. It looks
like a low level problem of Mapscript. Have you tried to run the same
requests with the same layers via the CGI or shp2img?
