John Judis of TNR started his writing career at Socialist Revolution, a New Left academic/activist journal founded in 1970 by James Weinstein (who later founded In These Times.) In the mid 70's, SR changed its name to Socialist Review. Published till a few yrs. ago (by that time postmodernists had ruined the journal), found in many university libraries.
