Grandgirl Number 2 turns 9 December 10th. :) I can't believe how fast these
kids are growing up!
We have Christmas at my sons home. Hubby doesn't celebrate Christmas so I
go to my daughters place on Christmas eve and we drink wine and laugh and
bond while we make side dishes to take Christmas morning with us . Then
it's a 45 minute drive to sons place where Gandgirls get to open gifts and
we eat a nice meal . It's simple , but enjoyable. :)

You have a safe journey and wonderful holiday !

Re: Hiya Guys!

2016-11-12 Thread Navybrat
I sold the truck and got a Honda Fit Sport with Navigation. It's been a
blast tooling around in it all week. Been putting through the paces a bit.
Drove into the foot hills and it did great.
I'm loving having a car after 22 years of having a van, then a truck.

My DIL had a Murano and it was a cool car. I wanted one...but they were
more money than I wanted a payment with.
Hubs is retiring soon...I'm worry about us being around each other too
much. I'm sure there must be an adjustment period. I hope he finds some fun
hobbies that get him out of the house ( and my space) here and there. ;)

The only way were going to stop this is to vote in some who actually cares
about this country and it's citizens. That sure as hell hasn't been Obama
or the dems.
The Petty Party is all about power...not people.

I'm so ashamed of a good 40 % of my fellow Americans. Talk about your
lockstep leftist.! I got in a heated argument with a 40+ year progressive
liberal friend of mine yesterday. She's so drinking the koolaid and I
swear she ticked off every talking point the left ever mouthed . We had to
hang up the phones in the end.
She emails me this afternoon and says she's sorry if she made me
uncomfortable. That we won't be talking politics again. I wrote her back
and told her I wasn't uncomfortable , that it got nasty as most political
discussions get when you are so far apart in ideologies. I said I agreed
about not discussing politics and that I have belonged to a political board
for 10 years and I get plenty of that drama.
We'll let it go...but she was being almost as bad as the board tards. Very
nasty no matter that I tried to be conciliatory because of our long time
friendship. No more. She made the rules about not discussing politics. If
she makes some smartass comment ..ever...I'm on her like flies on rice.
Friend or not. I'm done with that shit. I'm standing up for my political
principles whether it pisses her off or not. Honestly...I think it made
her uncomfortableand she was projecting.

Well shit! I was hoping for a good, calm match with Trump...to settle him a
bit. even out the theater so to speak. The dems will make hay with this
kind of stuff. Fuck!
Thank you for giving me a heads up. Yeah...I'm a believer ...but I don't
want the government issuing laws because of it. Let them do what they
wantthen sort it out with God...IMO.
I'm glad I never had to even think about that kind of decision for myself.
But that's not saying it didn't touch my family .

I'm getting to the point I look around my surroundings more these days. I
went to a movie twice in the last 2 weeks and both times I sat in a area I
thought would help me out the fastest.
I'm sad that my country has turned into 15 minutes of deadly fame.

But you gotta be smart . Big crowds don't entice me at all.

Re: Testing Testing...

WEll...that's your opinion and I can't deny the hate that's developed in
me.

What's your excuse? You hate everyone under the guise of we're all the
'human race'. Ya, as long as you don't believe in God, or accept gays as
normal, or hate Israel.

You have no clean hands to accuse me of anything. So leave it and leave me
be. Stop following me around to attack me on every thread. Even a stupid
thread about bacon!

Re: Urgent!

2009-12-24 Thread NavyBrat
As Turtle would say droll .-)

On Dec 23, 9:05 pm, Mrs. Rabbit mrs.whiterab...@gmail.com wrote:
 Christmas Restructure
 Urgent: Famous Reindeer Terminated
The recent announcement that Donner and Blitzen have elected to take
the early reindeer retirement package has triggered a good deal of
concern about whether they will be replaced, and about other
restructuring decisions at the North Pole.

Streamlining is due to the North Pole's loss of dominance of the
season's gift distribution business. Home shopping channels and mail
order catalogues have diminished Santa's market share. He could not
sit idly by and permit further erosion of the profit picture.

The reindeer downsizing was made possible through the purchase of a
late model Japanese sled for the CEO's annual trip. Improved
productivity from Dasher and Dancer, who summered at the Harvard
Business School, is anticipated. Reduction in reindeer will also
lessen airborne environmental emissions for which the North Pole has
 received unfavorable press.

I am pleased to inform you that Rudolph's role will not be disturbed.
Tradition still counts for something at the North Pole. Management
denies, in the strongest possible language, the earlier leak that
Rudolph's nose got that way, not from the cold, substance abuse.
Calling Rudolph a lush who was into the sauce and never did pull his
share of the load was an unfortunate context at a time of year when
he is known to be under executive stress.

As a further restructuring, today's global challenges require the
North Pole to continue to look for better, more competitive steps.
Effective immediately, the following economy measures are to take
place in the Twelve Days of Christmas subsidiary:

The partridge will be retained, but the pear tree never turned out to
be the cash crop forecasted. It will be replaced by a plastic hanging
 plant, providing considerable savings in maintenance;

The two turtle doves represent a redundancy that is simply not cost
effective. In addition, their romance during working hours could not
 be condoned. The positions are therefore eliminated;

The three French hens will remain intact. After all, everyone loves
 the French;

The four calling birds were replaced by an automated voice mail
system, with a call waiting option. An analysis is underway to
determine who the birds have been calling, how often and how long they
 talked;

The five golden rings have been put on hold by the Board of Directors.
Maintaining a portfolio based on one commodity could have negative
implications for institutional investors. Diversification into other
precious metals as well as a mix of T-Bills and high technology stocks
 appear to be in order;

The six geese-a-laying constitutes a luxury which can no longer be
afforded. It has long been felt that the production rate of one egg
per goose per day is an example of the decline in productivity. Three
geese will be let go, and an upgrading in the selection procedure by
personnel will assure management that from now on every goose it gets
 will be a good one;

The seven swans-a-swimming is obviously a number chosen in better
times. The function is primarily decorative. Mechanical swans are on
order. The current swans will be retrained to learn some new strokes
 and therefore enhance their outplacement;

As you know, the eight maids-a-milking concept has been under heavy
scrutiny by the EEOC. A male/female balance in the workforce is being
sought. The more militant maids consider this a dead-end job with no
upward mobility. Automation of the process may permit the maids to try
 a-mending, a-mentoring or a-mulching;

Nine ladies dancing has always been an odd number. This function will
be phased out as these individuals grow older and can no longer do the
 steps;

Ten Lords-a-leaping is overkill. The high cost of Lords plus the
expense of international air travel prompted the Compensation
Committee to suggest replacing this group with ten out-of-work
congressmen. While leaping ability may be somewhat sacrificed, the
savings are significant because we expect an oversupply of unemployed
 congressmen this year;

Eleven pipers piping and twelve drummers drumming is a simple case of
the band getting too big. A substitution with a string quartet, a
cutback on new music and no uniforms will produce savings which will
drop right down to the bottom line.

We can expect a substantial reduction in assorted people, fowl,
animals and other expenses. Though incomplete, studies indicate that
stretching deliveries over twelve days is inefficient. If we can drop
ship in one day, service levels will be improved.

Regarding the lawsuit filed by the attorney's association seeking
expansion to include the legal profession (thirteen lawyers-a-suing)
 action is pending.

Lastly, it is not beyond consideration that deeper cuts may be
necessary in the future to stay competitive. should that happen, the
 Board will

 Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS)

Because the organic material in tobacco doesn't burn completely,
cigarette smoke contains more than 4,700 chemical compounds. Although
OSHA has no regulation that addresses tobacco smoke as a whole, 29 CFR
1910.1000 Air contaminants, limits employee exposure to several of the
main chemical components found in tobacco smoke. In normal situations,
exposures would not exceed these permissible exposure limits (PELs),
and, as a matter of prosecutorial discretion, OSHA will not apply the
 General Duty Clause to ETS.

That's right...I don't care about you standing in the cold . I did it
for years and didn't bitch and moan about it. I never smoked in my own
home when my children lived there. Because any fool knows ciggerettes
aren't good for developing lungs. It's the law now and I don't feel
sorry for you needs what so ever. It's nice not smell your habit on me
when I go out to have a nice meal or a few drinks.
Nah...you stfuI staid I was up front about my reasons for being

don't like it makes no never mind to me. puff away bozo. Just do it

I don't have a problem with that. The problem prior to the ban was
'every' restuarant allowed smoking. If it were divided up and there
where an equal number of licenses for smoking and non smoking
establishments( I don't want to drive 12 miles to find a smokefree
place) that would be an equatablesolution. But until that would
happen...I'm enjoying the clean air.

 Hey Darlin',

How would you feel about establishments being able to declare themselves
 smoking or non-smoking ??

 Smokers don't enter non-smoking establishments and non-smokers don't enter
 smoking permitted establishments.

Shouldn't everyone be able to be accommodated and have a choice as to where
to go without government interference (again) in a legal pursuit ?

I agree that malls, stores, and Government buildings should be smoke free as
it is not possible to segregate in these places.

Re: Smoking bans at restaurants are more of a workplace health issue

2009-03-15 Thread NavyBrat

see? We can come to middle ground. I do get riled when someone like
Americanbuiltus gets nasty and attacks. My daughter smokes and as
someone who did it for 30 plus years, I do know what it feels like to
be put outside to smoke. But of course since I'm done with it, I don't
mind at all being able to go anywhere and not 'deal' with it. I do
draw the line at people being told what they can and can't do in their
own homes and cars. There are some cases where smokers living in a
townhome like residence ( that they owned) were sued by non- smokers
because the smoke was coming through the walls. In this case, it
should have been in writting when the person who was buying the
townhome that no smoking would be allowed. If you own it, its your to
smoke in or not smoke in. Now before you say buisness owners sit in
the same potno, it's not the same. Restuarants and bars and such
have health officals checking lots of stuff out in their buisnesses.
When its for the public use...its different than private home
ownership.
