John McCain made the comment, "I hated the gooks. I will always hate
them!" on his campaign bus when he was running for president in 2000
before a number of reporters. This story appeared in the San Francisco
Chronicle. McCain was asked to apologize and at first refused, but did
finally later apologize for the comment. But I mean this isn't
something McCain's pastor said, MCCAIN made this comment himself. The
Republicans are trying to grasp at straws. "Well Obama has never
really said anything too controversial, but his PASTOR said "God damn
America" in a sermon back in 1985 or something. And Obama has never
done anything so horrible, but he met WILLIAM AYERS a couple of times
and he was a member of the Weather Underground 40 years ago." I think
we should be concerned with what these candidates are saying and doing
themselves, not what their friends and acquaintances are saying and
doing. McCain was calling Oriental people gooks back in a 1973 article
in US News & World Report. And there're 12,000,000 Oriental Americans
who don't want to be treated as second class citizens in a John McCain
administration. And there are Oriental countries out there that as
president he would have to deal with, that we owe a lot of debt to.
