It was 1990 when the then Sarah Heath had a brief encounter with
trombonist for the Duke Ellington Band Charles Greg Royal. She was
talking to him in a friendly manner at a restaurant in Anchorage,
Alaska. He's a black man with very light skin who could easily pass
for white. But then a couple of more obviously black members of the
band came up to join in the conversation. She got very nervous and
started to excuse herself. "I don't mess with black men," she told
Royal. "But I'm a black man," he told her. "But you're not really
black," she replied. And now as governor of Alaska for the last two
years Sarah Palin is said to basically have no relations with most of
Alaska's minorities, and an adversarial relationship with the state's
largest minority, the Eskimoes or Native Americans. She is said to
have hired very few minority people to work in her administration. See
