POPT already has exec aliases to do execv(2) with filtered/substituted argument lists. Why not threads?
I see no reason why pthread_create() isn't a reasonable generalization of the existing POPT exec functionality. Yes there will be --without-pthreads AutoFu for the PTHREAD haters who do not wish -lpthreads as a POPT library dependency.
