Ports use SYSCONFDIR rather than hardcoding /etc, this is usually
handled by patching the source files (e.g. /etc/ - %SYSCONFDIR%)
then perl -pi -e s,%SYSCONFDIR%,${SYSCONFDIR},

signals delivery,
and which calls handlers upon these events. It will for example allow the
restart of a process
that exited, or mail someone if a monitored process receives a segmentation
