The documentation does not explain how to do this.
The binary isn't linked with libGL:
$ ldd /usr/local/bin/xplanet | grep GL
The updated xplanet features bumpmaps, e.g. it uses elevation info to
generate shading behind mountain ridges (see
http://xplanet.sourceforge.net/Gallery/20050418_earth/ for two
samples).
It works fine for me with xenocara on i386 -current.
