Here is an updated diff to fix some mistakes with library port. Most
of the patching there was wrong. There was some confusion between
the libraries project revision number and the shared libraries ABI
versioning. Have the various lzip binaries installed stripped as
 appropriate.

Thanks a lot for the help!. FYI, the changes to the lib were suggested
by upstream because I'm pretty useless when work with the library
versioning of any package. I'll take a look later today.

Bump

2013/10/30 Donovan Watteau tso...@gmail.com:
 Hi,

x11/py-gtk2 is marked as BROKEN on alpha and mips64 (actually, it
should be marked as BROKEN on mips64el too) because .got subsegment
 exceeds 64K.

However, building the offending library with -mxgot lets it build
on mips64el. It looks like -mxgot makes it slower but, IHMO,
 a) it's better to have a slower py-gtk2 than no py-gtk2, especially
as it's a common dependency, and b) these platforms are already
slow for most serious desktop usage anyway.

With this, Gimp builds and works on my loongson.

Re: PATCH: Add lzip support to bsd.port.mk

2013-11-07 Thread Stuart Henderson
My initial intention adding support for lzip was to have an alternative
to xz 100% compatible with VAX for the patches and tarballs created and
hosted directly by the OpenBSD porters in their servers. That is the
reason for the adittional change to PATCH_CASES. The support for
projects releasing tarballs compressed with lzip is just a side effect.

I think this is pointless for patches, I host a few of these - the
largest (due to a mistake) is around 500kB, typically they are around 10kB.

Tarballs maybe, though I just tried this with a distfile tar (uncompressed
28M) using default options of the various compression tools; decompressing
with lzip took 1.5s to decompress; xz took 1s with very similar memory
use (couple of K less than lzip; max rss around 9824).

This is all *significantly* slower than gzip's decompression, which was
around 0.3 seconds on my test file (and max rss 1156).

Interestingly pdlzip was faster at decompressing than lzip (though not as
fast as xz)..

I use -9 for everything compressed with xz, lzip or other modern
compression formats. This isn't a stupid setting! :)

xz's manual specifically advises against this (and it's useless for
files smaller than 32MB anyway). The default of -6 is pretty good,
you can use -6e to save a small amount of space but it's much slower.

man xz | less +/The.diff

(I would have pasted it, but I wanted to preserve the formatting with
the bold text :)

I think this makes sense but I would prefer if somebody using mips64* committed
it :)

Distfiles my distfiles

2013-11-07 Thread Stuart Cassoff
For a couple of ports of mine the distfiles can no longer be downloaded
automatically.
They can be obtained via fossil checkout or, if one is logged in to the site,
via a hyperlink.
I've heard talk of a places - safe places where tarballs can hideout in these
troubled times.

In this situation I guess I do up the tarballs and pass them on to someone?

Bump.

License is GPLv2+

You can eliminate the a lot of patch-Makefile with a well-crafted
MAKE_FLAGS line in the port Makefile. You definitely don't need to
change INSTALL or PREFIX (you're using your own do-install routine
anyway). CC, FLAGS, INCLUDES, and LIB_DIRS could (read: should) all be
put under MAKE_FLAGS in the port Makefile (and therefore not be touched
in patch-Makefile).

WRKBUILD-WRKSRC in the first line of the do-install routine.

The Makefile tries to strip a shared lib with the install-strip target. ?

otherwise, that looks better

Well it wasn't meant to refer to the actual name of the install target,
but I could see how there might be some confusion.

Re: PATCH: Add lzip support to bsd.port.mk

I tried with -9 and the firefox tarball. 14 seconds with xz, 13 with
pdlzip and 18 with the other lzip decompressors.

This is all *significantly* slower than gzip's decompression, which was
around 0.3 seconds on my test file (and max rss 1156).

I told to the upstream about the problem with VAX and our old platforms.
He added an option to limit the memory use to the next version of lunzip
and now you can decompress any file with just 50KB of RAM use.
Obviously, this option will slow down the decompression.

Interestingly pdlzip was faster at decompressing than lzip (though not as
 fast as xz)..

IIRC, pdlzip uses the same code than xz.

Upstream's advices? Who cares? :D

 man xz | less +/The.diff

(I would have pasted it, but I wanted to preserve the formatting with
 the bold text :)

[patch] math/coq update to 8.4pl2

2013-11-07 Thread Charlie Root
Here is an update of math/coq to 8.4pl2. This was tested on i386 by
running the regression tests which ran fine.

Highlights of changes:
- patch-scripts_coqmktop_ml was backported to 8.4pl1 and can now be
  removed.
- The -silent flag was removed from the regression tests as it's nice
to see things progressing (regress tests take hours to run).

Here are the changes as per the coq website
(http://coq.inria.fr/distrib/V8.4pl2/CHANGES):
==
Bug fixes

- Solved bugs :
  #2466 #2629 #2668 #2750 #2839 #2869 #2954 #2955 #2959 #2962 #2966 #2967
  #2969 #2970 #2975 #2976 #2977 #2978 #2981 #2983 #2995 #3000 #3004 #3008
- Partially fixed bugs : #2830 #2949
- Coqtop should now react more reliably when receiving interrupt signals:
all the try...with constructs have been protected against undue
  handling of the Sys.Break exception.

Coqide

- The Windows-specific code handling the interrupt button of Coqide
had to be reworked (cf. bug #2869). Now, in Win32 this button does
not target a specific coqtop client, but instead sends a Ctrl-C to
any process sharing its console with Coqide. To avoid awkward
effects, it is recommended to launch Coqide via its icon, its menu,
or in a dedicated console window.

Extraction

- The option Extraction AccessOpaque is now set by default,
restoring compatibility of older versions of Coq (cf bug #2952).

-Compiling with camlp4 is broken in 8.4 and 8.4pl1. The patch below is needed

Attached is an updated version. Thanks again for your feedback!
