(Sorry if this doesn't show up in the right thread, but these
problems actually caused me to lose the mail sent to me last
night, so I'm responding to what I see in the mailing list
archive.)
All of my problems seem to have come from this original sin:
yum install ... postfix sendmail ...
on the old server
but not the new one:
this no longer works (whereas it does in the old server)
date | sendmail don
(same result for mail as sendmail, though they seem to be totally
different programs)
I see in maillog something like this:
Jan 17 22:22:50 isis-20240117-1030 sendmail[120557

I’m hoping I’m just too blind to see the error today, and someone out there has
a quick fix.
Thanks.

I am not sure if I should have two relay directives in my master.cf or just
edit the fallback_relay to smtp_fallback_relay.
Thanks

You can have only one relay/unix entry in master.cf.
You use the name smtp_fallback_relay with Postfix 2.3 and later.
The old name fallback_relay is still supported
Hi, we have been looking for ways of implementing some redundancy on our
postfix gateways by using the smtp_fallback_directive. Our goal is to have
mail to our domain example.com failover to our secondary exchange server if
the primary is down. So in our transport we have:
