clamav.
Info/advice: with postscreen(8), sane HELO restrictions, and good
DNSBLs, clamav is not going to get much use.
Also blocking unwanted attachments and double extensions (with
mime_header_checks or amavis) leaves only little stuff for clamav to
eat.

Hello everyone,
I have a java web application that uses JavaMail to send messages with
attached documents (spreadsheets). On the server (Ubuntu 10.4 64-bit) I
installed postfix to send email
submission via the sendmail command. Your Java app is speaking
SMTP! Where are the logs for submissions from the java app?

spam than what
we've all been doing via SMTPD for many years.
It's just rejecting faster and using less resources. And then it also
sports a sort of el-cheapo greylisting AND earlytalker detection.
It eases the load, that's all.

What would cause valid email addresses to be unknown periodically?
They are valid before and after the following log entries and nothing
on the server was changed.
Is postmap run on the virtual_alias_maps from time to time?

Like he said, he cannot reach port 25, so 587 (submission) is the
preferred option.

I can confirm that the init script doesn't handle multiple instances
properly.

Trivial fix: modify the init script to invoke postfix start etc.
instead of directly invoking the master daemon.
Yeah, that's what I did :)

if what you're trying to do is on the up-and-up (and do it well for

that what you're trying to do won't be very successful.

Oh yes.
this is spam button problems, etc. In which case you should read the
list archives. This type of bulk sending, almost an identical
scenario, was covered recently, within the last month or two.
