#3571: Right-to-left writing direction letters are not concatenated

 Reporter: claudius.h@… | Owner: potlatch-dev@…
 Type: defect | Status: new
 Priority: major | Milestone:
Component: potlatch2 | Version:

 How to reproduce:
Enter a name on a node or way feature using a language with right-to-left
writing direction (arabic, hebrew, farsi,...) like فرسی.

 Result:
Rendering shows each letter seperately, like ف ر س ی (exagerrated dispay
 in here)

 Expected result:
 right-to-left letters should concatenate.

Comment(by Richard):

This is a known issue that is basically a Flash limitation. We will
eventually be able to fix it but this will require targeting Flash Player
10 (we currently target FP9), building with Flex 4 (we use 3.5 currently),
and rewriting much of the UI to use the latest Adobe framework (Spark).
It's on the radar (see potlatch-dev mailing list passim) but not going to
 happen overnight, I'm afraid.

When you press the GPS data button in Potlatch 2 you only get a few
pieces (literally just a few parts of the whole trace) of the traces
that you know are in that area, but when you press the G key in Potlatch 1
you get all the traces right.

Re: [Potlatch-dev] Bug: Selection broken after save

 I think I know what's happening.

To reproduce the error: Enter a checkin comment with an uneven number of
 spaces in the text.

P2 reacts to the spaces as if no dialog was open and goes into background
offset mode. With another press of space you can unlock the map.

P2 needs to be aware that a dialog is currently open and ignore all shortcut
keys when they occur in the text.

Can you please confirm my theory?

There were actually two problems along very similar lines - your one,
and another one introduced recently and only spotted this morning.
Both have now been fixed in commit b2c4b2 and deployed to osm.org

Thanks for figuring out how to reproduce it, it made this much easier
to figure out.

Cheers,
Andy
