Re: [Potlatch-dev] Alternate look and feel

2011-11-29 Thread Eric Wolf
"Skinning" Potlatch would be fantastic. I'm trying to fine-tune the look &
feel of the USGS OSM instance. Still have some really big things to
correct. Potlatch's general look isn't a priority.

Some things that would be great to be able to do at run-time is disable
certain things, like:

1. Specify a Map Style and default Background that can't be overridden by
the user.
2. Remove GPS Data, Map Style, Background and Option buttons.
3. Turn off the Toolbox
4. Disable the ability to create anything other than nodes.

I realize these are all not really "skinning", especially #4. But this
would help create purpose-built Potlatch instances.

That's a good spur for me to continue porting the visual components
over to their spark equivalents - not only is it good for consistency,
but it'll make the stylesheets easier! There's plenty of easy upgrades
that can be made, but I'm surprised to find there's still a few
components that don't have spark equivalents yet. I guess the key is
to upgrade all the ones we can.

Cheers,
Andy

[Potlatch-dev] Alternate look and feel

2011-11-26 Thread Richard Fairhurst
I'm working on adding the ability to 'reskin' Potlatch 2 at runtime - in
other words, to change the basic look and feel from the current blue.
(Docs are here for anyone interested:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flex/using/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf69084-7f8c.html)

I'd like to offer two bundled stylesheets for the app: one that works
with the osm.org site design, and another, more generic one suitable for
third-party deployments. (You'll also be able to supply your own
stylesheet if you compile just the one stylesheet file with Flex SDK.)

For those people who deploy P2 on their own sites, I'd be interested to
know what you would like the 'generic' style to look like. Maybe
something fairly unassuming with greys and squared-off button corners?
Suggestions welcome.
