Bingo!!
Thanks Jerome! Yes, I was also having problems with StuffIt crashing
everytime I tried to open a .ZIP or .SIT download. I downloaded the
latest StuffIt Expander from
http://www.stuffit.com/mac/expander/download3.html
deleted previous versions, and now PM is up and running again.

If you mean FoxTrot searching you should reindex your search indexes as
Marlyse suggested, if you mean Spotlight searching, you can toggle these
on and off in Preferences -> Indexing & spelling.

I think there are different things going on here for folks. One person
solved the problem by trashing the Custom Dictionary, but that wouldn't
work for me, I don't think, because my Custom Dictionary is 0 KB. In any
event, I was also having problems with TextEdit (which I discovered

I had to erase my main drive due to problems unrelated to PowerMail. Re-
installing PowerMail in the new setup I copied over the PM Database from
a backup disk. Now, I cannot search this database. Any suggestions?
Using 10.4.1 and PM 5.2.
Thank you, Dan
Install Stuffit?
It is no longer part of the OSX installer and PM used to crash on the
absence of it

trash Stuffit and get the latest version of it. If you have, just re-
install it anyways.

Same problem here.
I just migrated to a new machine which I updated to 10.4.1, from a mac
running 10.3.9
Now everytime I try to launch PM, it crashes immediately.
I have tried each of the suggestions in this thread
- delete com.ctmdev.PowerMail.plist
- delete PMKey
- delete PowerMail Prefs
