Thanks for that suggestion of a term for messages not of use to the
recipient, but of use to someone on the mailing list. I'd not seen that
before. A much better term than "spam". I apologize to anyone who took
offense at my use of the term "spam" (in quotes) in reference to
messages from the PowerMail list I don't find of interest.

One question: does "noise" include extraneous posts (i.e. not really on
topic), posts not of interest to me, or both?

My tendency is to think of noise as the former, not the latter, but I
can see it both ways.

Well, this is how I take. This list is a user group rather than a
support list by the developer. I much prefer listserv since there are
tons of good scripts posted by others which I keep even though I don't
need them right away. Long time list members are like friends, y'know.
Forum doesn't work that way.

I am on more than 20 beta programs. Most of them are on listserv. A
few are on forum. I can tell you that I don't test for vendors who does
on forum as much since it is so hard to keep up with all the issues on
forum, and search usually returns more than you searched for. On the
other hand, I see every posts made to listserv in my inbox. I will
remember what I saw. Searching these posts in PM is much more useful
than one at forum.

It seems that the "name" column is wider than it should be. I have never
seen this either. What happens if you try to shrink the column width by
dragging the header's right edge?
