I haven't used that script for a while but I think it requires the
Satimage OSAX to function.

Ah, maybe that this function was lost during migration! But why does it
work out of "Smile"? - Maybe because "Smile" is running with Rosetta but
PM and the scripteditor nativ. I think that's the answer for my question.

PowerMail expects the Spotlight Cache to be in the same folder as the
message database. However, you can move it to another location and
replace it with symlink in the database folder. Symlinks are unix like
aliases. The Finder can display them (they are shown as an alias) but
you can only create them from Terminal. Here is how to do that:
- Quit PowerMail
- Move the "Message Database Spotlight cache" file to another location
- in a terminal window, type this command:
ln -s [path of the moved spotlight cache] [path of the database folder]/
You can drag and drop the files from the Finder to paste their path to
the Terminal window. Make sure to REMOVE the trailing slash (/) from the
cache path, and to LEAVE the trailing slash for the database folder.
Example (to type on a single line):
ln -s /Users/jerome/Library/Message\ Database\ Spotlight\ cache
/Users/jerome/Mail/PowerMail\ Files/
Or you can use a third party utility (SymbolicLinker or Make Symlink) to
create symlinks from the contextual menu in the Finder.

renders and displays HTML it should print as well. Whatever the problem

Greetings,
I apologize for asking some very basic questions, but I'm new to
Apple and am looking for a better e-mail client. (I used The Bat! on
Windows.) I stumbled across some references to PowerMail, but have a
few questions before I would consider buying it. Probably the best
way to ask is to compare to features in AppleMail that either I want
to maintain or are lacking:
1. I do want to keep separate in/out/sent boxes for each account. (I
have four and my wife has two.) Does PowerMail have that feature?
2. I want to set at what point lines wrap, something I cannot get
AppleMail to do. In part I don't like lines runing all the way across
my screen, but I also intend to use GPG, and need a fixed wrap point.
3. I like to thread certain mailboxes, but with AppleMail, when I
open the "parent" e-mail, it opens all messages in the thread, a real
pain if there are a lot of responses.
4. How good is its anti-spam capability?
Thanks for any assistance veteran users can give me.

This seemed to work great...but, when I do a Spotlight search now,
though, there's a problem--any email message in the results shows its
path to the cache, not to the original files. So when I double click on
it, instead of finding that message it opens a new message in PM. I see
that the other files found (docs, etc) in the spotlight search show
their path going to the original file, but the PM files all point to the
cache...??
I don't know if this is related but sometimes the PM files that
Spotlight finds show a code number in the subject line instead of the
original subject. For example: 00a778.PMMessageMD. However, this was
happening also before I moved the cache. Any idea what is wrong?
OSX 10.4.8, G4 Dual PPC, PM 5.5.3

I also am a possible TheBat! transferee if
PowerMail can match some of the options I so like
there. I am currently using a MacBook, do not
like AppleMail, am receiving mail on a PC and use
TheBat! there. I have imported TheBat! into
Parallels/WindowsXP but would prefer to simply
work with Apple on the MacBook.
Options wanted: Redirect mail smoothly for others
(mailing lists), WYSIWYG compose/send, ability to
fend off HTML (TB! uses tabs and I read the plain
text mail on top of HTML and rarely even look at
the HTML tab), delete duplicates across an
account, multiple accounts, no limits on size
beyond limits of PC on which PowerMail is
installed, built-in backup and restore system.
Decent search capability across the entire mail
program. I tend to use the mail program for
filing important notes and attached graphics.
Many thanks for a response. I haven't yet
installed the trial program, assume that it is
only good for so many days, I'd like to get a feel
for whether most or all of these options are there
before I give the program a go.
