updates in sync with the old release. SunLabs also announce they had PPC kernel
up to b58-60 in past conversations - so don't think I'm off base my comments.
My interest is more on the end goal. A SXCE PPC edition..

I was recently informed that GCCFSS 4.0.3 is used to build the latest ON kernel
b65 and current (I was out of the loop for a few months - sorry).
With that said, I'll be glad to see the recent code drop and test it against
GCC 4.0.3/4.2.0 builds. Will focus on Altivec/VMX support for now.

I have GCC 3.4.6 and 4.2.0 for Solaris PowerPC. The GCC 4.3 compiler is still
in flux and tends to fail depending on which snapshot is used. The GCC
3.4.6/4.2.0 core code is stable for builds and patches.

Created standard C/C++ compilers from gcc 4.1.1 for SPARC/x86 which should
compile 32/64-bit targets. Use the name of gcctest-4.1.1-* for the packages
over at Blastwave.org/testing. The smaller gcctest SPARC package is a C only
gcc 4.1.1 compiler (7MB) and the larger one (25MB) is the gcc 4.1.1

OpenWindows would be a viable option and it is no
longer supported by Sun.

Much of the work with GCC was in knowing everything was working on both the C
and C++ side, as well as for 32-bit and 64-bit compiles. So many various
versions between 2.95.x and 4.2.x that it is good to define which version to
