RE: Most Popular Introductory Programming Language

Dear Colleagues,

I am interested in papers/articles/data from all over the world, not just the
US. I should have made this point explicit in my original request.

Subject: Most Popular Introductory Programming Language

Dear Colleagues,

I have recently stumbled across the following article on the ACM blogs:

http://cacm.acm.org/blogs/blog-cacm/176450-python-is-now-the-most-popular-introductory-teaching-language-at-top-us-universities/fulltext

I was wondering if any of you have links to recent articles/studies/data that
relate to the most popular first year programming language used outside of the
'top' US universities (as discussed in the aforementioned article). I am not
interested in resurrecting the debate about which language is most suitable for
introductory programming. Thank you in advance for your help.

Best Regards,
