And while we are talking about "competitions", if you have an AR technologies
knocking around, this may be of interest to you or your colleagues:

Call: Invitation for Submission to Technology Demonstrator 3 Augmented Reality
Trials
Closing date for Registration: 23rd November 2010

Logica, a leading business and technology service company, has launched a
challenge to uncover the leading Augmented Reality (AR) technologies for use in
UK security and counter terrorism operations. The project, titled Technology
Demonstrator 3 (TD3), aims to identify current and future AR capabilities,
whilst evaluating them against various security and counter terrorism
scenarios. TD3 is part of the Innovative Science and Technology in Counter
Terrorism (INSTINCT) cross government approach that seeks innovative solutions
to support CONTEST, the UK’s Strategy for Countering International Terrorism.
Horizon Digital Economy Research Institute at the University of Nottingham is a
partner in the project.

Technology providers from across industry and academia are being invited to
submit their AR technologies which will be evaluated and shortlisted by Logica
and its partners, before being demonstrated to the Home Office and Law
Enforcement Agencies at a Showcase Event in February 2011. Please be aware that
the technologies need only be at an early stage of development, as long as they
can show the essence of the idea. Where appropriate, Logica will also be
providing advice and support to technology providers who are looking to take
their AR technologies to market.

TD3 is open for submissions now, and will close on the 23rd November 2010. You
are encouraged to visit www.td3-ar.com for further information and to submit
registrations of interest.

If you have any questions, please email instinct-...@logica.com. Feel free to
forward this to any colleagues (industry or academia in any country) who you
think may have an interest in showcasing their work.

Best wishes,

Sue
